What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

i can’t remember much about this book, but it is a chapter book about a young girl who finds or somehow gets a dog. i think the dog may be shaggy a/o white, like one of those mop looking dogs. at some point, the dog has to go to the vet. black and white pictures were included, including one that shows the outside of her house and the sidewalk. at some point, the girl makes a comment about how her parents drink seltzer water and she tries it because thinks it is fancy, but she thinks it’s gross.
