Book Club+ MPC discussion

Hi everyone,

If you are joining us for our summer selection "Mercury" by Amy Jo Burns, we are now at Chapter 2. The Joseph family has many challenges and trouble seems to be never-ending. Can Marley change their luck around? With this new eerie disovery at the church, unfortunate things just seem to be coming in their direction. Let's continue our story at Chapter 2.

Chapter 2
Shay Joseph missed the gruesome discovery at the church. Shay never seemed to be were he was supposed to be. He frequently hid from his brothers. He didn't like his brothers very much, but he loved them. He respected Marley. Marley was making dinner and having conversation with Shay about him missing from the roofing job at the church. Shay didn't like roofing, but he had to be part of the family business, as required by their father. Shay appeared to be his father's favorite due to his resemblance to his mother.

Shay received a phone call about the body discovery and headed to the church. Shay and Patrick his friend were asked to help clean the church attic before the next service. Shay had found a ring. He didn't know if the ring belonged to the body or someone else. He put the ring in his pocket. He had a fear of finding out who it belonged to.

Marley ate dinner by herself as all the Joseph boys were busy at the church. Marley spoke to her best friend Jade on the phone and whispered the words "at least it's over now"....The Joseph brothers came home and Marley ended the phone conversation. Marley worried about Waylon. She knew he was troubled, but he didn't want to ask for help. Marley was going to be there for him this time and all other times.

Shay Joseph? Another Joseph brother, what is his story? He seems to also dislike the life they have working in their father's business as roofers. Shay has found a ring? The ring? Who does it belong to? Marley and Jade seem to have a secret...?What do they know? Marley feels like she is losing Waylon, but she still holds on with a willingness to help him, whatever is troubling him. I think more secrets are going to be surfacing in this town and the Joseph family is likely to be involved. What do you think? I'm hoping that all the brothers and family will be able to rise above their misfortunes. Marley....Can she handle this burden that keeps growing?
