Book Club+ MPC discussion

Hi everyone,

We are now at Chapter 6 of "Mercury" by Amy Jo Burns. We continue with Marley who has returned to the dinner table of the Joseph family. No longer with Baylor, Elise Joseph has invited her back not for Marley's company, but to make ammends for what Baylor did to her. Elise has given her a warning to stay away from Waylon, as he is needed for the family business. Mick Joseph continues to value his roofing business and ego more than his sons and wife.

Chapter 6
Marley continued to go the the Joseph house for dinner, even though she was warned by Elise to not pursue him in place of Baylor. Waylon and Marley were both washing dishes when Marley caught him looking at her. Elise and Mick left to watch Baylor play football, leaving Waylon and Marley alone. They both left to watch a movie on top of a building by a drive-in movie theater. They continued to do that for weeks after that. Marley discovered Waylon was kinder, calmer than Baylor. They kept their meetings a secret. Waylon said the person everyone loved in town was their mother Elise, not Mick, as much as Mick thought so. Waylon also told Marley he wished Baylor wasn't his first. Baylor returned to Marley after football. Elise was not happy about it, she knew Marley and Waylon were seeing each other and now she was back with Baylor. Marley told Baylor she was finished with their relationship. Baylor was not happy about that. She wanted Waylon, not Baylor. Baylor was angry. Baylor kicked her out of the car, she left but waited for Waylon to get home. She went in his room and confessed to Waylon that she only wanted him and stayed with him.

This is starting to get complicated for Marley. She had fallen in love with Waylon, but was had not broken up with Baylor. When she did tell Baylor she didn't want to be with him anymore, he was angry? What if the Joseph family found out about her and Waylon? What will happen? What will happen between Baylor and Waylon? Elise? Now together, but stilll secret, could this further destroy the Joseph family? Do Waylon and Marley have a chance? What do you think? Should Marley have walked away from this family? or, fight for her and Waylon? What will Mick Joseph think about this love triangle?
