Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams - 3* - My Review

This is the third book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. It contains the same eccentric characters as the first two (Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Trillian, Zaphod) and a few new ones. The plot is even more frenetic than the first two books. I particularly liked the references to the game of Cricket, with the inhabitants of the planet Krikkit gathering components of the Wikkit Gate to destroy the entire universe. It continues the absurdist satire and pokes fun at the search for the meaning of life. I very much enjoyed the first two books, but for me, this is the weakest of the three. The "Hitchhiker’s" trilogy initially ended here, but eventually two more were added to the series. I probably will not continue but glad I completed the original three.
