Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 986 comments Czech. Appears to be a one=hit Wonder. Karel Poláček has this one thing, We Were a Handful, with like 728 ratings (!!!) but like no English readership.

gr resident and SPADEwielder Robert Wechsler (who is/was a publisher who declines self-promotionalism (respect!)) has made available What Ownership's All about FREE as an ebook ::

Henry Birnbaum | 40 comments I tried to find a German edition. What is the original title? Dům na předměstí?

Yep. That's it. But I'm not seeing anything in German from Poláček.

Robert Wechsler Poláček didn't write anything in German that I know of. There are some German translations, including of what is known in English as We Were a Handful (a literal translation is "There Were Five of Us."). I didn't see one of Dům na předměstí on Amazon Germany, but the Germans have translated at least part of his tetralogy.

By the way, We Were a Handful is more of a children's book, which is why it is so beloved. His other most beloved book, Muži v ofsajdu, is a soccer book (he was also a sports writer; "ofsajd" is a Czechified "offside"). What is most beloved is not necessarily what you may want to read.
