This group read Turton's The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle back in 2019. My review notes I didn't love it, but I am looking forward to trying this new one someday soon.

I had mixed feeling about The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I loved the premise of the book and the way the story unfolded was creative. I just wasn’t feeling Turton as an author or his writing style but I’m willing to give him another shot. I’ll plan on digging into this book a little ahead of schedule. I’m currently finishing up The Only One Left by Riley Sager. I think this will be my first group read with the group since joining. 😝
Gflyy: I'm glad you are planning to try Turton again too. Looks like you and I and Sherry are of similar thoughts on the other book by him. I enjoyed The Only One Left! It was also a group read; discussion here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...Gflyy wrote: "I had mixed feeling about The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Looks like I have a five-week estimated wait for The Last Murder at the End of the World from the library. That title is certainly a mouthful.
I did not read The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle with the group and after The Last Murder at the End of the World I'm tempted to. But I think I'll see what those of you who have read both have to say about the latter. As it is I'm not encouraged by your so-so reviews and am curious about whether you like this one better. Off to post some initial thoughts before I forget.
Is anyone else reading this book? I just started it last night. I'm only a few chapters in, but already I love the wtf, butterfly effect elements in the intro.
I've read The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and it's one of my favorite novels to date (the kind I wish I'd written).
I also read The Devil and the Dark Water and although I felt like it dragged on at times, I loved that the end threw me for a loop.
Looking forward to reading more of Turton's latest!
I have read all 3 of Turton's books as has my mum (she wasn't a fan of his first two but did like this one if that helps those who are undecided). It is also much shorter than the previous ones and I would say easier to follow.

I started it last evening and was interested enough to continue reading it until 1 am. For me, it is definitely easier reading than 7 1/2 Deaths...
Gail: good to know! My Libby loan is a week or so away from my turn. Gail W wrote: "I started it last evening and was interested enough to continue reading it until 1 am. For me, it is definitely easier reading than 7 1/2 Deaths..."
I finally got my turn at a library loan for the audiobook and started it tonight. An interesting premise, though the narration-style / voice with an omnipresent narrator hasn’t completely engaged me yet, will see how it goes.
For anyone on the fence I found this to be a compelling read and enjoyed it. The narration-style is quite effective under the circumstances of the plot.
Carol: It's funny - I started out with a rating of 4 stars and raised it to 5 after I wrote my comments on the Spoilers Welcome thread. in reality a 4.5 when I apply my secondary scale. Carol/Bonadie wrote: "I agree. I listened to it and found the narration both effective and compelling."
Yes, let us know!Ann wrote: "Yay! Hope you enjoy it April!
