To analiza the distopic part i recomend his books of Sons of the last days. Three of the books are played by the Father Elijah is an apocaliptic novel as "The Lord of World" or "666" by Hugo Wast. The situation described in this book and the saga of Sons of last days are inspired by the situation of Canada and seeing the current president of Canada i share the fears of Michael D. O'Brien.
