I know this book is labeled as Adult, but is it appropriate for a young teen accustomed to advanced reading? Particularly, are there spicy or explicit scenes?

Yeah, besides a hastily described kiss scene, it's completely PG in that regard. There is violence, too, but nothing untoward for a YA. I'd consider it a YA book, not adult.
