Nominations for September 2025 BofM are for Pre 1940, The Proto and Pulp Eras.

SF novels or short story collections/anthologies that have not previously been read by the group in the last 5 years are eligible. Please check the bookshelf & the nomination rules for further clarification before nominating a book.

Previously nominated books are on this bookshelf. More qualifying authors and books can be found here.

Please add your nominated book title as a clickable link directly to the Goodreads' book page, with author and year, so it looks like this:
Foundation
Isaac Asimov 1951
(If you can't create links, please include the URL to the book)

Tell us why you chose the book that you're nominating. Remember that books require seconding now. We'll close this nomination thread on the 15th of August 2025 in order to have plenty of time for poll(s) and then for acquisitions of the winner(s).

Nominated:

Nominated and Seconded:
Nordenholt's Million by J.J. Connington
The Clockwork Man by E.V. Odle
Lord of the World by Robert Hugh Benson
The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Mark's endless quest | 2 comments Maybe i'm asking something rather obvious (and/or at the wrong place ) But how does this work exactly ?? I've never participated in a Goodreads group before.

This is where we nominate books for our next group read. The books need to fit in the right time frame. If you don't want to nominate anything, you can still second one of the books suggested by other members.

I will again suggest Nordenholt's Million (MIT Press / Radium Age) by J.J. Connington Nordenholt's Million by J.J. Connington. It asks the important question: Can Elon Musk save us all?

Mark, We read books in 6 different time periods, a different one each month. The time period is indicated in the thread title, as well as in the bookshelf.
Group members nominate and second the book choices, then they go to the poll, where members vote.
The most current threads are listed at the top of the year's reads. So nominations and the current read are at the top of the "Group Reads 2025."
Polls can be found by going to the link on the right side of most screens within our group.
Thanks Rosemarie for explaining!
