Read #1 today... tried it a few days ago, and wasn't in the mood for it at work...

Loved it today tho, at home... also, the afterword explaining the origins of the book as a Letter Game between 2 writer friends...

As I noted in the Cozy November thread, this is the earliest published historical fantasy I think I've read, and I'm not surprised Gail Carriger is a fan, since I feel like this inspired her writing career...

Nirkatze | 21971 comments I read this a long time ago, after suffering a 5th grade book hangover from Wrede's Enchanted Forest chronicles... Looking forward to reread, after a couple decades...

Reading #2 now, about Cecelia & Kate and their spouses traveling in France...

Nirkatze | 21971 comments I read #1 last week and it was lovely. I agree that the afterword explaining the process was really interesting... I actually did something like that with my friend in high school... we had an ongoing fanfic that started when she got sick and I sent her an email to cheer her up... then we started going back and forth a good ten times or so. It was fun. Basically pretended we had anime characters living at home with us.
