Have you ever attended a writer's booking signing or attended a writer's presentation or in anyway did or almost did meet a writer you admire?

Never! I wish I could visit one of Sebastian Fitzek.

Kate | 675 comments I've been to a book signing and 2 author talks.

1. James Martin and got James Martin's Easy British Food signed.
2. Michael Ball who is a UK West End star, and has recently written 2 books in the Empire series and a memoir.
3. Bernard Cornwell who talked about his Sharpe books and other series. It was a fascinating talk. He's a favourite author of mine.

I have a habit of getting tongue-tied when I meet famous people!

James Martin's Easy British Food by James Martin The Empire by Michael Ball A Backstage Betrayal (The Empire, #2) by Michael Ball Different Aspects by Michael Ball

About 1995 I watched a large presentation in an academic theatrical/musical auditorium of Sandra Cisneros after she had published The House on Mango Street and Woman Hollering Creek & The House on Mango Street. It was an honor.

Agreed Kate! I had opportunity to speak with Clarissa Pinkola Estés shortly after publication of Women Who Run With the Wolves, but I stood back while others interacted with her.

Lamilla | 868 comments I met Neil Gaiman when he came to Moscow back then, it was a wonderful experience. He is a skilled storyteller and knows how to handle an audience.

From the foreign authors, I would love to meet either China Miéville or Kazuo Ishiguro

Cathy (cathepsut) | 664 comments I met two writers at my local bookstore by chance, but didn‘t know either of them. The female writer was signing a historical romance, which I had signed for my mum as a birthday present. Don‘t know yet if she liked it.

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments I went to a Jenny Lawson book signing when she was touring for Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things and she was the sweetest, nicest, funniest person! There was a huge crowd and she stayed until almost midnight to make sure that everyone had a chance to get their book signed.

Sonya | 33 comments James Patterson and Orson Scott Card. Out of the two Orson Scott Card was my favorite!

Put attending a book signing on your 101 things to do before you're 100 years old list .
You will never forget it . Especially if it's an author whose books you
enjoy reading that's speaking .
It's similar to attending a rock concert , but for bibliophiles .
