Trisha | 1194 comments I'm done with this one.

I swear, I don't hate all books - just. . .these ones are not my jam. lol

I did not love this one, lost interest at maybe half way and just muscled through listening to it.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 1132 comments I guess I am odd man out again because I liked this one. I do get frustrated with books that switch from English to another language, in this case Spanish, without providing the translation.

I really appreciated the historical aspects of the book and felt like I understand that culture better than I did before reading this.

Mel's search for her daughter kept me fully engaged and the ending...wow! I did not expect that!

Teddie (teddieg) | 1298 comments I'm kind of with you on this one Trish - I think I've OD'ed on magical reality this month. I need a bit of edge next month - lol. I'm listening to the audiobook here, but have jammed a bunch of books in between.

I do love the idea of a used book having echoes, but, and I don't know whether this is because of audiobook or the writing, but the chapters with Regretting Belle are the hardest for me right now.

Heather | 330 comments Starting this now. 🤔

Teddie (teddieg) | 1298 comments @Heather - lol!

Maybe we should make a concerted effort to try to start these BRs at the same time.

Heather | 330 comments I can get on board with that.

Teddie (teddieg) | 1298 comments I know it's tough - sometimes my reading is based on getting a book at the library or something. Or, we check into the BR and say we're reading or have read and start the discussion when there's a quorum of at least 3 of us ready to start discussing? There have been a few books where I've been late to the party and then kind of dreaded reading it - lol.

Heather | 330 comments Yeah, let's try for a quorum. Like you, my hands are sometimes tied because I'm waiting for a book on Libby. But if it's available, I'm fine with putting whatever I'm currently reading aside and starting a BR book at the same time as other team members.

Heather | 330 comments And apparently I had started this book a while ago and then sent it back to KU. Because Audible wanted to start where I left off. So I wasn't into it the first time...

All that being said, I'm at 6: Ashland and sadly care nothing for any of these people so far. But I'll continue on.

Heather | 330 comments 6: Ashlyn (autocorrect!)

Trisha | 1194 comments I'm all for scheduling or kind of gauging with a group on when we'll get to a buddy read! It's much easier to push through when I know someone else is reading with me! lol

I'm down to try scheduling dates more next month!

Heather | 330 comments So far i think the author is.trying to do too much and hasn't succeeded in fleshing out any of the characters well.

Preach.

Heather | 330 comments I finished it this morning and was happy to move on...
