I have just been reminded of why I adore writing so much–and as an unpublished young author, I know how difficult it can be to continue writing, editing, drafting, writing some more, stressing, screaming, writing, editing, reading, and finally publishing or putting it out in the world.
I entered a contest a few weeks ago (Reflections) for literature. I entered a short story called The Curse of Death–I've posted it a few times–about Death's daughter who is scorned for being a "sin" or mistake. The theme was "I belong" and in the end, she meets someone who sees her as a being and not just as Death's doll. I just received news that I won 1st place, a place of Excellence, in the literature category.
And though your writing doesn't need a reward to be good, it feels pretty damn good to be praised for a story I've worked so hard for.

Whether you are on you're first draft, you're just starting the first gripping sentence, or you're revising to publish, your story is worth being told.

And I would love to see your guys' names on a book one day.

I hope you are reminded every day why you enjoy writing, and why you include it as more than a chore or homework.

I feel so terrified to write a book. I think I'll experience a lot of backlash and hatred from my family members because I'm a Muslim and a part of lgtbq community. They see the themes and topics so disgusting when I talk about what it's like to be a vigilante and navigate that sort of life while also being at times emotionally and mentally drained and being bi/queer.

I'm sorry.. ❤️
