Hi lilly! I'm looking forward to a buddy read with you. I created this thread for us to chat about the book.

Are you okay to start on Tuesday 11/11? It looks like there are 46 chapters + epilogue...what schedule are you comfortable with?

Can you swing 4 or 5 chapters a day, that works to 11-12 days? I only have the library loan for 14 days. I know you're busy so let me know what schedule works best for you.

yes i am! im okay with 4 days. i have the loan for 7 more days but no one else is waiting for it so i'll probably be able to renew it

DAY 1, Chapter 1-4

Start of my buddy read Let's Make a Scene. um, not quite a spoiler as much as a giggle. book opens with personal trainer (Petra) flexing hard on our FMC. Petra "stop crying like a little baby and give me 5 more" is the best as I eat my doughnut with a highly indulgent 560+ calorie iced white chocolate mocha. Yup, carry on, Cynthie and Petra.

then (13 yrs ago) : Jack Turner Jones...why do I think of Pirates o/t Caribbean?

lilly, from chapters 1-4: Was there a character you related to? Do you think Jack's parents will show up further along in the book?

you betcha! Its a fun story so far. There's a NOW and THEN (13 years ago) set-up in the first 4 chapters.

Not sure if you’ve gotten the first 8 chapters yet but I hope you’ve found your way through chapter 3 (then)? LOL, loved the snark birol v solid gold pen in chap 3. Chapter 7 (now) was a great foundation for the now storyline.

absolutely! I love that...I just finished chapter 12, but didn't want to stop...will continue through to 17 today. Hey, what do you think so far? chapter 10 seemed unnecessary - too much negative stuff.

ok i finally caught up (go me!) jack and cynthies attraction in the then chapters feels so awkward to me

busy later in the day so got the day's reading in early this morning.
Day 7: Chapters 25-28, Mon., 11/17


read up on the theatre mentioned in chap 28...90 years of a magnificent 2-screen. also, interesting that these 4 chapters shared a common thread:

Day 8: Chapters 29-32, Tues., 11/18
this book (Let's Make a Scene) is about movies (they're making the sequel 13 years after the original), so it must've been fun for the author to drop all these other movies into the book.

what movie would you like to see a sequel made?

I hate her last director, Shawn...looking forward to his ostracism from the industry. LOL. MTV award was cute and over-wrought...both MCs were so young, too much pressure.

no worries. I've got 2 other books started.. working on challenges to finish before year's end. I liked today's chapters (34-36) best.

just slaved thru 5 hours of homework tn but good news!!! i get off tommorow early then have a week off of school so ill definitely catch up

not sure how what next in a buddy read, after the book is done. since we didn't discuss chapters, themes earlier...is a buddy read just a read-a-long?

sorry girl i ended up falling asleep and i still have 3 hours of the book left 😭 i'll listen to more later and try to finish it up!!
