This is so much fun; to share pictures of your bookshelves! I finally figured out how to do it. Upload your pictures to PhotoBucket. Click on your picture and it gives you a hotmail code on the side. Copy and paste this code as a comment and voila...your pictures!

So here are mine:
The box on the side of the bookshelves are the books to swap on PBS or BookMooch. Most of the books on the left bookshelf are my to be read books! As you can see, way too many!
I counted 7 books that I have or have read! Wow! I'd love to put mine on here, but I don't have a digital camera. I have one wall in my livingroom that is just bookcases. Also have books stashed in various places, inside trunks, in my bedroom. Kind of everywhere. One of the advantages of living with just my daughter--unlike in the past, no one is complaining about "Mount Bookopolis" and the so-called landslides that happen from time to time. :)
A definite advantage Leslie!! I have books stashed all over too. Jeff just got us a new entertainment center and I kept putting a few books on it; he said You are determined to make this another bookcase aren't you? Well duh, there are shelves; shelves are for books right? :)
Exactly!!! My daughter's 17 now and she's starting to get on the bandwagon--no more bookcases Mom! If only she knew what her room is going to be eventually. My own private library! I already told her that when she moves out but still wants her room to be her room for several years, like kids usually do, which is fine, except I am confiscating the one long wall with no windows. That is going to be mine! HA HA HA HA (I laugh an evil laugh and rub my hands together in demented anticipation!) LOL
We joke about suspending bookcases from the ceiling. I wonder if a pulley system would work...hmmm.

Hi Cindy,
How do I add an attachment? Not sure because of the noreply. Has to go to goodreads, but then what? I am sooo technologically challenged!!!
"
Hi Ladies! Dreamy, right? All walls bookcased! Used to be the formal diningroom, but I didn't need another room that was used for nothing and had to be dusted! Besides, I don't have a husband, so I was able to do what I want and what I want is to look at my books all at once! Giggle.

Got it! Missed your instruction at beginning.

Oh my goodness; these are just beautiful!! Just a dream room! Thanks for sharing! To have a room like that....I can only wish!

I'm breathless. It gave me the same out of breath feeling that I get in bookstores and libraries. If only I too could have this in my house. Oh my, it's so lovely and warming.
Thanx Lekeshua. It still gives me the same breathless feeling at times too, even though I have lived here for seven years! I never dreamed I could have my own library! A true blessing. One of the walls is for my daughter. She is now 12, but I (of course) collected picture books for her (aren't there some absolutely gorgeous, wonderful childrens books?) and read to her constantly. She is now an avid reader! We spend a lot of time together touching feet and reading! She's into Sara Dessen at the moment. Sophie "hates" the Twilight series, and isn't (even though "belonging" is tres important at this juncture!) afraid to say it! Sigh. Life is good.

Uh, JEALOUS! WOW!
Roberta, Just have to tell you....I had my husband look at the pictures of your beautiful room. I told him; we are sharing pictures of our bookshelves; here's mine. Then look, the only person who has shared pictures, just look at this room! Makes my piddly bookshelves look really sad! Look, there's even a window seat! What a dream!! He gave me some answer about, well if the kids move out, I'll make the family room your book room! Like yea right....number one he would really do that and number two...the kids are gonna move out!!
Bookshelf envy here, too, Roberta. And I love converting dining room into library!I keep my 1st editions in a china cabinet that was my mom-in-laws. It sits in easy reach of my desk.
Edit: I just figured out how to post the photo here:

Can't do the desk photo, though, because my web designer has it set up with all sorts of swanky roll-overs (see my journal entry for The Wednesday Sisters A Novel, etc.).
Oh Ladies! I certainly didn't mean to become the focus!!!! I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would have a library. A real library! It's rather humbling, and in this case a little embarassing!I have moved a million times since leaving my parents at age 17, and every one of my books have travelled with me. It really wasn't until I built this room that I realized how many books I had collected over the years. I can look at my books now and see my life in stages. Disney, Nancy Drew, Stephen King, Barbara Kingsolver.....it's fun. My ex-husband once suggested that I didn't need to move "all these ?!@# books". Hmmm. I think I should have known then that he would earn the ex title!!!
Anyway, I am very lucky to have this room and wanted to share with women that would certainly appreciate it as much as I do!! Thanks for doing so.
Meg, I looove the converted china cabinet!!!! Perfect! And Cindy, that's why I don't have a husband!!!!!!!!! LOL.
Gorgeous photos, ladies.Meg, I loved your desk with rollover shot, particularly the manuscript with Anika's very familiar handwriting.
>with Anika's very familiar handwriting. That's actually my writer pal Brenda Rickman Vantrease's writing. Anika always emailed me edits by doing swanky interlineated notes in Word. :-)
