Love it or hate it. Post your thoughts.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Thumbs up, so far. I've read the first book, and I'm totally loving Mercy and Adam. The other characters are fun too.

Yes this is one of my must read/buy series. I love it. Briggs really bring the characters to life and I like how Mercy is independent.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Me too. I like Patricia Briggs' writing.

Have you read the Alpha.Omega series yet. It's just as good. I wish she'd write more on Bran the Marrok.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I figured I had to read the books in order, so I haven't tried to skip ahead to those. Maybe she will write a story about Bran one day.

Well I found that you don't have to read the mercy series in order to read the Alpha/Omega series but alot of people feel otherwise. The only thing with the A/O series is that you have to read the short story that comes before it to understand the Charles/Anna relationship.

message 8: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) This is a favorite series, tho I was disappointed with BONE CROSSED. It's my least favorite of the series, so far. I wasn't nuts about the first Alpha & Omega book, but really liked HUNTING GROUND so am looking forward to the next in the series.

Wow i thought Hunting Ground was just ok I loved the first book and i agree I was a little disappointed with Bone Crossed but i still can't wait for the next in the series.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Okay. I might go ahead and start the Alpha/Omega series soon.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 43 comments This is one of my favorite series. I love Mercy and the other characters from Adam and Samuel, to Stefan, Ben and Warren. Brilliant! I agree that Bone Crossed was my least favorite of the series so far, but I still really enjoyed it.

As far as the Alpha & Omega series goes I'm with Melodie in not being completely won over with Cry Wolf (although I think the Alpha & Omega short stories was one of the best I've read), but really enjoyed Hunting Ground.

message 12: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I'm halfway through listening to Blood Bound and while I'm not head over heels crazy in love with the series, I really like it and will definitely finish all the books.

message 13: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I love Sam! I wish there was some way for Mercy to be his mate - he's such a sad character. I'm crazy about these books. I also think the covers are terrific.

I like Stefan next to Adam. I would love to see something brief between he and Mercy.

message 15: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) I am holding out hope that Mercy will find Sam "the perfect mate" since I really don't think that there is any way that she will get together with Sam.

message 16: by Chichipio (new)

Chichipio I agree with Ann. The 3rd book resolves the whole love triangle thing pretty well, which I'm totally fine with since I usually can't stand triangles for long. As soon as they start to drag, I find myself disliking the character causing the situation for not making a decision and living with it.

But, if people had doubts about it, the 4th book makes Mercy's choice pretty clear.

Spoiler Post!

Oh I was happy when she finally Adam because I knew he was the one. I think i would have stopped reading it if she picked Sam. I'd rather her be with Stefan than Sam. I really don't like him for some reason lol.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 43 comments *** Spoiler ***

I actually really like Samuel, and I want him to find happiness, but I want it to be with a woman that he's in love with, not one that he just loves. I'd also like to see him get the child he so desperately wants. However, for Mercy, there's no better match than Adam; I adore him. Stefan is brilliant as well, and I'm not sure what his future holds, but it will be interesting.

message 19: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (bookmoodreviews) | 16 comments I agree. I thought that Adam was a better fit for Mercy than Sam. I do think that Sam cares for Mercy, but more in a sibling way than that all consuming soul mate way. He liked the idea that if he had children with MErcy, they might survive.

I'm not counting Stefan out of the equation just yet though.

Spoiler

I don't want anything to break up M/A but if we must have a triangle I think Stefan would be nice. Sam is just too brokenhearted. He does need someone to fall in love with. Mercy isn't the one. I do hope he finds someone soon because his mopping is seriously irritating me lol.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 43 comments *** Spoiler ***

I was actually convinced that the teen werewolf girl that is brought to Mercy's attention in, was it Blood Bound(?), would be given to Samuel to care for. I thought she would fill the whole in his life and give him that reason he's searching for to live, and would provide her with a strong and nurturing father figure. And yet...

message 22: by Ann aka Iftcan (last edited Jan 05, 2010 04:31PM) (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Sam needs something more than just someone to be a "Father Figure" for. I really think that what he needs is a child of his own--at least, that's what he thinks he needs. I'm wondering if maybe an ADOPTED human child would work. And, having just come up with the idea--what about a surrogate mother? I'm wondering if any of the were-wolf scientists could do a scan of Sam's sperm and pick out some that do NOT contain were-wolf genes in them, thus letting him have his child.

But I think that a large part of Sam's problems right now is the girlfriend he had during his "college time" while he was lone wolf in Texas (wasn't it Texas?) The one who aborted the baby, because she didn't feel that she could work, study AND care for a baby. That seems to be what "broke" him, or at least, that is what is implied.

message 23: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Another vote for putting Stefan in the mix. I find him fascinating.

message 24: by Chichipio (new)

Chichipio I like Stefan as a character but not to be romantically involved with Mercy. I'd like to see more of him in the books because he's goofy and funny when the situation calls for it, but he also can "vamp up" and be deadly serious if he needs it.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any tension between him and Mercy, but that it's not necessary for him to be a good character. He has a lot of history--friends, enemies, family--that can be explored without him having to be drooling after Mercy.

And, in the end, like it or not, in this world Briggs created, there's no real chance of Stefan and Mercy working out as a couple. Briggs' vampires are not like, say, Charlaine Harris'.

message 25: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 17 comments I'm totally loving this series! I started reading Moon Called last weekend, and I'm currently reading Bone Crossed now! I really like Mercy, and all the characters in this series a lot! This series is definitely a keeper series! Sam, oh I love him! He is fantastic! I'm all about Stefan as well with his Scooby Doo van! The Alpha/Omega series is next even though I did buy Cry Wolf before Moon Called. Once I realized the characters were first introduced in the Mercy series, I decided to read them after just to keep in order even though they are two series.

lol I forgot about the Scooby Van. SMH that Stefan. You really had a Mercy weekend wow, WTG!

I really dislike love triangles. So prevalent in urban fantasy, which I love. Sigh!

I hate the debates they sparks. My friend and I have some serious almost friendship ending discussion about the triangles in Sookie and Twilight. I'm pro Jacob/Eric and she loves *sighs and shudders* Bill/Edward. We've been friends for 13 years!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Yeah. Those debates go get hot, don't they?

Yes they do, especially when you love a character and hate for someone to say something bad about them. Oh my friend makes my blood boil when she talks about Eric! I just want to smack her lol.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I know what you mean. I try to step lightly because someone you dislike, might be another person's favorite, and vice/versa.

message 32: by Chichipio (new)

Chichipio In general, I just tend to think less of the characters trying to win the 3rd one. I find all that "I'll keep trying until you see how great I am" sickening. Dude, you're right there! If she didn't see how great you are by now, then it's her loss. Move on.

But, my main problem is with the character playing the "object of desire" role. They're the one with all the power and for all they say they care for their "suitors," they only hurt them over and over. Then, three books later, after playing with both characters' feelings in the most selfish way possible, they finally made a decision and the "winner" acts like if they won the lottery. Like "yes! she finally realized how great I am!" Ugh.

When these things happens, the formula should be: Make a decision [in a reasonable amount of time:], stick with it and be sure to let the others know what you feel and the decision you made. From that point on, discourage any advance from the 3rd one.

[/rant:] (did I mention that I don't like triangles? :)

message 33: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Chichipio you go. I have to totally agree with that rant. I've gone on it (almost word for word) myself more than once.
