My favourite historical author is Lisa Kleypas. I love her heroes. That's why I like to write about the same kind of brooding heroes. Yes, think Marcus from It Happened One Autumn and Logan Scott from Because You Are Mine. Sigh

My old favourite authors are Linda Howard, Brenda Joyce, Johanna Lindsey, Sandra Brown, Catherine Coulter.

Favourite books, aside from those I already named would be Sherry Thomas's Private Arrangements. I love Sophie Jordan and just read her April release, In Scandal They Wed. Loved it. But I really, really loved her second book, Too Wicked to Tame.

Loved Tessa Dare's Goddess of the Hunt and Surrender of A Siren.

There are more, but I'll save them for another post.

When I first started reading romance it was Julie Garwood historicals. Man, how I loved those! I would stay up all night to finish one. I haven't found an author I love as much. Or maybe the biz has made me jaded. lol. I do really enjoy Lisa Kleypas, she's one of my favs at the moment.

I agree with you Lori. I love, love, love Julie Garwood. The Prize is my favorite by her. Whenever I really need a good read I go back to her books and re-read them. Always makes me feel good :)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 3 comments Lots of fantastic historical authors mentioned. Have enjoyed books by a majority named. I didn't see Pamela Clare's name mentioned here. She is an outstanding writer and has written some wonderful and exciting historical books. Here's a list. I highly recommend her books to you.

Surrender
Ride the Fire

Juli Temple (iowalass) | 8 comments My favorite book of ALL time is Laura Kinsale's Flowers From the Storm. I have no idea why this one stood out so much for me, but it is the only book I have ever re-read.

message 12: by Toni (last edited Nov 15, 2010 07:41PM) (new)

Toni (sloomy) | 4 comments My favorite author is Tracy Ann Warren. I love all of her books. My second favorite would have to be Anna Campbell. They both write such heartwarming romantic stories. I have a hard time putting their books down when I start reading them. My favorite books are "Wicked Delights of a Bridal Bed" by Tracy Ann Warren and "Captive of Sin" by Anna Campbell.

Vicki | 1 comments My all-time favorite authors are Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught.

Since then, I also started liking Sherry Thomas, Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Mary Balogh, Sabrina Jeffries, Elizabeth Hoyt...

Liz (elleemsee) | 1 comments Catherine Coulter was my romance novel gateway drug - I wasn't really supposed to be reading "that kind of book" when I was 14, so I'd spend hours on the floor in our little local library reading her in secret, and to this day, 'The Hellion Bride' is still one of my favorites.

(My current, very long "anything they write, I'll read" list includes: Nora Roberts, Lisa Kleypas, Theresa Medeiros, Sabrina Jeffries, Suzanne Enoch, Elizabeth Hoyt, Kasey Michaels, *pausing to take a breath* Liz Carlyle, Eloisa James, Madeline Hunter, Christina Dodd, Linda Howard, Catherine Coulter, Jo Beverly, Celeste Bradley, Gaelan Foley, and of course my old standbys - Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer.)

Monica Maybe (monicamaybe) | 1 comments I'm not completely sure this belongs here, but after looking through the other posts, this is the only place I could think to find. (If I'm wrong, please, PLEASE feel free to point me in the right direction. please).

I read a book a few years ago that I really enjoyed, but between moves it's been lost and I can't remember the author OR the title of the book.

Some of the things I do remember is, the heroine was searching for her sister, who apparently went cuckoo and thought she was a witch, when that was still a big no no, and some of the townspeople burned her. Her husband is a logger, I'm pretty sure. He has two sons. The father was a cheat, like at cards and the like, and she told the captain that her brooch was real in return for passage on the ship to go to her sister, who lives in america. She had a cat with her. When she first gets there, a bull tried to gouge her. The widower has a tree fall on him and he gets a fever and she brings him back to health. She gets kidnapped by Indians so that she can save their leader. The widower has some brothers and I'm pretty sure they fight over her. I can't remember much else but that.

Once again, I apologize if this is in the wrong place. I sincerely hope someone can help me. I'm going bonkers trying to find this book.
