Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Paris Vendetta A Novel (Cotton Malone #5) by Steve Berry
disappointing ending..old character gone, new ones not a good backfill.

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Death Dance A Novel (Alexandra Cooper Mysteries (Paperback)) by Linda Fairstein
not the best one of her novels, it was great until the end which was really unbelievable...the killer had 8 million hours to kill Alex and never gets around to it? give me a break!
Bright Lights, Big Ass A Self-Indulgent, Surly, Ex-Sorority Girl's Guide to Why it Often Sucks in the City, or Who are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me? by Jen Lancaster
Jen Lancaster is now my best friend in my head. And i found myself drinking a lot of wine along with her while reading.
The Sinner (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #3) by Tess Gerritsen
Oh brain candy, how I love you.

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Kills
Good read, always enjoy the history lessons
The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury
I dont think its a ringing endorsment when I wanted the herione to get taken out by the bad guys...
The Illuminator
it was OK. I am not a huge fan of historical novels, mostly I just finished because I got half way in and I need to keep on pace for 2010
R is for Ricochet (Kinsey Millhone Mystery) by Sue Grafton
I have yet to be disappointed in one of her books, always a good read

message 12: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Scarpetta Factor (Kay Scarpetta, #17) by Patricia Cornwell
I am so furious at this book (unreasonable- yes, I know). I was 400 pages into the book before the plot actually came to light and it was a plot line redux from 10 YEARS AGO!!!!!! 10 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!! give me a break!!!!!!!! oooh, I am so mad. no more patricia cornwell.

message 13: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Cold Hit (Alexandra Cooper Mysteries (Paperback)) by Linda Fairstein
great way to ignore my children while we were all trapped inside during a blizzard. I hardly even heard their cries for food and water I was so absorbed in this book.

message 14: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Such a Pretty Fat One Narcissist's Quest to Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, or Why Pie is Not the Answer by Jen Lancaster
I actually laughed out loud several times while reading this book. Jen Lancaster, new best friend in my head...

message 15: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Apprentice (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #2) by Tess Gerritsen
this is one of the few thrillers that actually stayed with me and made me have a few nightmares last night. Also, I read it all in one day, couldn't put it down.

message 16: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Assholeology The Science Behind Getting Your Way - and Getting Away with it by Steven B. Green
Not as great as the title would lead you to believe. Also, this book is probably better for wimpy guys than for kick ass chicks.

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Body Double (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #4) by Tess Gerritsen
damn! never start a tess gerritsen book at 8 pm. I was up all night, i couldnt put it down!!

message 18: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Likely to Die (Alexandra Cooper Mysteries) by Linda Fairstein
The Surgeon (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #1) by Tess Gerritsen
very different books- same lesson- women doctors shouldn't piss off crazy male med students

message 19: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Nine Dragons (Harry Bosch, #14) by Michael Connelly
Good book as always, but The Scarecrow was so good that this one felt a little flat by comparison. And almost every character made an appearance, it was like a homecoming...just needed Kiz, keisha and rachel and the whole gang would have been in the story.

message 20: by Kathy (last edited Mar 22, 2010 06:29AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Professional (Spenser) by Robert B. Parker
Its amazing how good Robert Parker was- I started this and didnt stop till it was done. Every story he writes just sucks you in instantly
Motor Mouth (Alex Barnaby, #2) by Janet Evanovich
Always cute and funny, Janet is never a disppointment

message 21: by Kathy (last edited Mar 25, 2010 08:56AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments U is for Undertow (Kinsey Millhone Mystery) by Sue Grafton
took a while for all the fragmented stories to come together, but once they did i couldn't put this down

message 22: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Bitter is the New Black Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office by Jen Lancaster
Great book, cements my love for all things jen lancaster. I just wish I'd read the books in order now. Oh well.

message 23: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
Really interesting look at how what and when and where and who affects your entire life. Makes me wonder if I were born at a different time what I would be doing now...

message 24: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
Ok, I realize its not pulitzer worthy, but she tells a damn funny story and I need some brain candy if I am going to keep on pace.

message 25: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Official Book Club Selection A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin by Kathy Griffin
again, not a deep and moving book. Listen people, I had a lot of stuff to get done this week but needed to keep on pace. don't judge.

message 26: by Kathy (last edited Jul 12, 2010 04:55AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Pretty in Plaid A Life, a Witch, and a Wardrobe, or, the Wonder Years Before the Condescending, Egomanical, Self-Centered Smart-Ass Phase by Jen Lancaster
I am so sad, this caught me up with all Jen Lancaster books until my library can get me a copy of my fair lazy

message 27: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
really interesting ideas about making things into an epidemic (for better or worse).

message 28: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Bone Vault by Linda Fairstein
As usual, an awesome and interesting read. sadly i only have 1 more book until I am all caught up on linda Fairstein.

message 29: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments 13 1/2 by Nevada Barr
Halfway through the end was obvious but I didnt really care about the characters enough to keep going...except I want to get to 100 books. This is my first nevada Barr book, I like her writing style so i will try more

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
Fantastic book- halfway through had a big DUN-NUH moment, full of surprises and introspection. 5 stars

message 32: by Kathy (last edited May 17, 2010 08:31AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen
Great memoir about a woman who goes home after her husband leaves her. Starts out funny but turns very inisghtful
Final Jeopardy (Alexandra Cooper Series, #1) by Linda Fairstein
first alex cooper book. kind of guessed the ending early, but still a good read. series got better as it went on.
Split Image (Jesse Stone) by Robert B. Parker
damn! Robert B Parker has written a million books, and every one is as good as the last. I am so sad he is gone, one of my favorite writers

message 33: by Kathy (last edited Sep 07, 2010 05:11AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Black Ice (Harry Bosch, #2) by Michael Connelly - Great book as always, Harry Bosch on the trail of crooked cops and mexican drug lords.
My Horizontal Life A Collection of One-Night Stands by Chelsea Handler - Funny, easy summer read
Drop Shot (Myron Bolitar, #2) by Harlan Coben
Meh. Myron Bolitar goes searching for the murderer of a famous tennis player that was trying to make a comeback. Hard to get in to, nothing special.

message 34: by Kathy (last edited Jun 06, 2010 02:44PM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Walking Shadow (Spenser, Book 21) by Robert B. Parker - Every Spenser novel is as interesting as the last. This time he was chasing chinese tongs and a crazy stalker.
The Woods by Harlan Coben - First time I have read a book by Coben, but I couldn't put it down so I will definitely have to search for more of his work.

message 35: by Kathy (last edited Jun 15, 2010 04:01PM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments 2nd Chance (Women's Murder Club, #2) by James Patterson
so cheesy, it makes my brain hurt...but in a good summertime read kind of way
Storm Cycle by Iris Johansen
what a piece of crap. why do people recommend iris johganssen? this book was god awful. I may give her 1 more chance in case this was a fluke, but that is it.
Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
Now this on the other hand was a fantastic book! I couldn't wait to get chances to read more. Its about rapid cognition and how your brain works without you knowing it. awesome book!

message 36: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Deadlock by Iris Johansen
allright, I gave iris johanseen one more chance. this was waaaay bteer than the other one I read, but not good enough to keep me coming back. And I truly despise when authors have their bad guys describe the herione as "the bitch". its pretty lame and totally unoriginal.

message 37: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:08AM) (new)

#54 A husband has to chase down the clues of his wife's murder as ghosts from his past come out of thew woodwork

message 39: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:07AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments My Fair Lazy One Reality Television Addict's Attempt to Discover If Not Being A Dumb Ass Is the New Black; Or, A Culture-Up Manifesto by Jen Lancaster
#58 Jen Lancaster's memoir about getting over her mentally lazy, reality TV loving, uncultured life.
Ice Cold (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #8) by Tess Gerritsen
# 59 Maura Isles ends up accidentally coming upon a secret Mormon vilage where all the residents mysteriously disappeared.

message 40: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:06AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Hold Tight by Harlan Coben
#60 All about neighbor drama, families spying on each other and a crazy killer on the loose. Not as good as his other novels, but still a quick read.

Fade Away (Myron Bolitar, #3) by Harlan Coben
#61 First Myron Bolitar novel I havent been able to put down- while helping an old girlfriend, Myrin finds a terrorist group adopting blond hair blue eyed embryos to give birth to and raise as "unecxpected" terrorists

message 41: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:06AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Prey by Michael Crichton
#62 nanobots are on the loose and taking over. But i had to wonder, why not just use some bleach to kill e.coli?

Chocolate, Please My Adventures in Food, Fat, and Freaks by Lisa Lampanelli
#63 I love, love, love Lisa Lampanelli. I think this is probably best as an audio book because I could half hear her talking while I read and half the voice in my head and some of the humor is lost when its me and not lisa. does that make sense?

message 42: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:05AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Lion by Nelson DeMille
#65 Asad Khalil is back to finish his incomplete mission from The Lions Den. He wants to kill John Corey- but I think not! John Corey kicks ass!!!

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins
#69 Katniss and Peeta compete in the Hunger Games, put on by the Capitol to keep people from the surrounding districts in place. Great read, but a little too exciting in parts. Had to read quick, I was holding my breath.

Winter Study (Anna Pigeon Mysteries, #14) by Nevada Barr
#64 Great descriptions of a remote island in lake superior and a research team studying wolves. The mystery that takes place had a great what, why, how and where but totally fell apart when it came to the final who. grrrr!!!

message 43: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:05AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
#67 This book was funny, sweet and sad- its the story of a dog and his owner told from the dog's point of view. The dog Enzo is convinced when he dies he will come back as a person and considers himself mostly human except for his lack of opposable thumbs...and his arch nemisis the stuffed zebra. Dont be fooled though, this book is heart wrenchingly sad at the end, but I still love it.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
#66 This is a pretty self indulgent book. Its a memoir from a woman who travels to italy, india and indonesia after a nasty divorce and heart breaking break up with her boyfriend. Elizabeth Gilbert is a really good writer, and that is the only thing that got me to finish this book because I was getting really annoyed with her self centeredness. I can sum up the whole book for you- me, me, me, me, me..eat some good food..me, me,me,me,..pray in a cave at an Ashram...me, me,me,me...meet some hot brazilian guy and fall in love....me, me, me,me...

message 44: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:04AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Animal Husbandry by Laura Zigman
#68 Cute book, pretty funny- story of a woman trying to figure out why her boyfriend went from totally being in to her to suddenly leaving her without any reason or even an offical goodbye. Turns out, guys can be jerks. who knew??

message 45: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:04AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins
#70 even better than the hunger games, this time katniss and peeta are starting a revolt against the capitol and get sent back to the hunger games as punishment.
I couldn't put it down, had to pre-order mockingjay because I am so caught up in this story

message 46: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:04AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments No Second Chance by Harlan Coben
#72 A man searches for his daughter who went missing after he and his wife were both shot by an intruder. I think I have read to omany Harlan Coben books, I could guess the twist at the end about halfway through.

Just One Look by Harlan Coben
#73 A man disappears after seeing a photo someone slipped into his wife's photomart order. A lot of the loose ends that were tied up at the end were very unsatisfying.

message 47: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:03AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Sizzling Sixteen (Stephanie Plum, #16) by Janet Evanovich
#74 Stephanie has to convince a mobster to lay off Vinnies gambling debts. Started out slow, but ended up pretty funny

Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins
#75 Final book in the Hunger Gmes series does not disappoint. Katniss is the new face of the rebels, the "mockingjay" and she has to balance fighting the capitol and being used by the President of District 13 who is too hungry for power.

message 48: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:03AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments The 9th Judgment by James Patterson
#71 Typical Womens Murder Club brain candy. The very end of the book was a cheap and useless plot "twist" that wasn't really a tiwst. And, i can't believe I am going to say this, but it actually cheapened a James patterson novel and that my friends is scraping the bottom of the pickle barrel.

Think of a Number by John Verdon
#76 Picked this book up because the front cover had recommendation blurbs from two of my favorite authors. Once the book picked up it was actually a good read, but that was...oh...maybe a quarter to a third of the way through the book. Which to me doesnt live up to the hype.

message 49: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:02AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments J is for Judgment (Kinsey Millhone, #10) by Sue Grafton
#77 Kinsey earches for a "psuedocide" who suddenly pops up in Mexico after his wife collects the life insurance money.Solid as usual, with a really good twist at the end.

Spider Bones (Temperance Brennan, #13) by Kathy Reichs
#78 Tempe is trying to figure out a man who died in Vietnam is suddenly showing up dead in Quebec. the trail leads to hawaii where anothe r body turns up and Tempe gets drawn into a local murder.

message 50: by Kathy (last edited Sep 28, 2010 05:02AM) (new)

Kathy (geedle) | 59 comments Violets Are Blue (Alex Cross, #7) by James Patterson
#79 Alex Cross hunts down a coven of vampires, and tries to evade the mastermind. I forgot how much I enjoyed james patterson novels before he began just phoning them in.
CMMI(R) Guidelines for Process Integration and Product Improvement (2nd Edition) (The SEI Series in Software Engineering) by Mary Beth Chrissis
#80 Very dry read on its own- BUT when coupled with CMMI training it is fasinating!

The Devil's Bones by Jefferson Bass
#81 surprisingly charming for a murder mystery about a forensic anthropologist. go figure? I will definitely read more Jefferson Bass novels, this was my first.
