I was looking for comments on horror movies that readers have seen, or are interested in seeing.


I am really worked up to see Legion and Daybreakers. I hope these do not disappoint.

Last good movie I saw (horror wise) was District 9, or is that just sci-fi?

I watched "The House of the Devil" the other night and it was AWESOME. It's not one of those gratuitous movies but a real throwback to 80s horror with plenty of suspense and creepiness.

Did anyone watch Halloween II, directed by Rob Zombie? I watched it over the weekend and thought it was really bad. I had such high hopes because I loved the first one he directed. The only parts that I liked (and I loved these parts) were when they showed Michael without his mask.

I'm anxious to watch The House of the Devil. I'm waiting for it to come out. Where did you see it at?

I have the advantage of working in the entertainment industry where we get copies of movies in advance.

District 9 is a great alien movie. I loved the lead actor. So nerdy and sincere and serious about his job.

I also saw it a couple of days ago and I agree. I thought it was one of the worst I've seen in awhile.

I have a copy of the Orphan waiting at home. Anyone seen that?

It was stupid fun.

I liked it. I love the actress that played the mom...Vera something.

I saw Orphan, actually liked it!

It was creepy, in a different way.

K saw Orphan, i was deeply uncomfortable until the plot twist was revealed, then mayhem broke out, and I loved it. I would give it 2.5 stars. I like Vera F. she is underrated if you ask me, so is Peter Sarsgaard. I am glad he bought it in the movie though.
I have not heard stunning things about Legion I am sad to say.

Has anyone seen The Hurt Locker?

Does anyone remember a movie called “Mr. Frost”? A friend and I grabbed it at random at the video store, and I liked it. This was about fifteen years ago, when I was in high school. Jeff Goldblum is a serial killer. I’m not a fan of his, and not usually impressed by his acting, but as I recall he did a good job. Just wondering if anyone else has seen it.

I saw that a long time ago and I think I liked it. It's on Netflix instant watch so I plan to watch it again soon. I love Goldblum.

I remember Mr. Frost. It was very dark and creepy. I'll have to catch it again because I can't remember much about it except those impressions.

"Mr. Frost," yes, I remember that very, very vaguely. It's been ages...

Yeah, I saw the Hurt Locker. It was good, very dark and a bit funny how that Ranger specialist was addicted to the bomb ordinance job. As for The Orphan, I really like how they included the Deaf girl in it and it was funny how the bad girl learned sign language so she can tell her, 'if you tell mommy what I did, I will shoot mommy.' in sign language.

Very hard to go back to civilian life after dismantling hundreds of bombs. What he told his son when he was back home was a horrible thing for a father to say. I thought he was going to say one thing, but he said something totally different that made my jaw hit the floor.

I'm going to watch this movie called Orphan everyone is raving about after I watch Ginger Snaps.

Thanks for the feedback on Mr. Frost. I’m glad I didn’t make it up. In high school, we would often just grab a random movie at the video store. This usually resulted in us wasting two hours of our lives watching an awful, awful movie. Mr. Frost was one of those pleasant exceptions. I want to say “Brimstone & Treacle” was an exception, but it was just too disturbing to fully appreciate the acting, direction, etc.

Loved The Hurt Locker -- smart, riveting, all-around excellent. The writing and acting are superb, and Kathryn Bigelow is an amazing director responsible for some of my favorite quirky films: Near Dark (offbeat vampire tale), Point Break (who doesn't know that one), Strange Days. I was a little afraid to see The Hurt Locker at first, thinking it would be another gritty war movie with limbs flying everywhere, but it's so much more. Awesome!

I didn't even know it was directed by a woman until after I saw it (I don't pay attention to directors most times). Near Dark is a favorite '80s movie of mine and I was happy to see that she directed that one. I've heard of Point Break but Keanu Reeves + surfing = turnoff so I never bothered watching.

LOL, I know what you mean, but Point Break is worth seeing!

I second Zuzana's sentiment. "Point Break" is definitely worth seeing it is a top-notch action thriller. Kathryn's a great director and I missed her. "Blue Steel" and "K-19: Widowmaker" are to other great films she made. She kind of fell off the face of the earth after "Strange Days" and made a bit of a comeback after 2000.

I saw Blue Steel a long time ago and remember liking it. Maybe I'll catch Point Break sometime. I do like Patrick Swayze. He might be a big enough draw to totally cancel out Keanu Reeves. By God he is an awful actor.

Point break is a really good film. It's one of those that i can watch again and again.

And all this time I thought Point Break was just a stupid surfing movie.

Tressa..I loved the movie Point Break!

Strange Days is great and Near Dark was pretty good.

It's about more than surfing, although the surfing scenes are cool.

The surfing scenes are cool and so are the skydiving scenes. However, I also love the opening, the bank robbery, with the Richard Nixon masks. It's just a cool flick, which reminds me that I should really watch it again.

Funny enough I was just watching a Myth Busters episode last night where they took on the skydiving myths from that film.

Richard Nixon masks make everything better.

Rotten tomatoes has only about 20% for Legion. Not good indicator. 40% for Daybreakers, that is much better.
Haven't seen them myself.

Strange Days - that gave me pause, had to go look it up on IMDB and YES, I remember loving that movie but it was mainly because I LOVE Ralph Fiennes. He can do a wide range of characters that is for sure. He was brilliant enuf that it helped me overcome my loathing of Juliette Lewis.

What a great story though.

yeah, it was good. there are 4 main characters and it's all about how they react to things and what happens to them as they travel to a safe place. It was short and tight and well acted by Chris Pine(new Kirk!)Lou Taylor Pucci and piper Perabo
