Natalie | 14 comments A Walk to Remember hands down. It was the first novel(and first movie) I read by him,and that got me interested in Nicholas Sparks. I think the innocence of their love story is so appealing and refreshing, because although they had gone through such obstacles at their young age, their love for each other was stronger than that, and that love made them want to be a better person for each other. I can go on and on, but A Walk to Remember is definitely my favorite. :)

My favorite Nicholas Sparks book is A Walk to Remember. I think the main reason is because their love went through so much and they were so young.
My mom and dad remind me so much of Jamie and Landon, my mom had a bad illness and my dad stay with her through it, he never left. Unforunatley I now know how Jamie felt when her mother died, and lets just say I'm not the most popular girl in school too.
You wouldnt believe how many times I have read this book, infact I can quote it and I can also quote the movie inside and out blindfolded.lol no joke!
I think another part of it is that this really happened Nicholas Sparks sister had cancer at a young age and her husband stood by her through it all.
I have started a group here on goodreads called A Walk to Remember if anyone would like to join I would be thrilled, not that many people want to join because its one of Nicholas older books but to me it has so much to give it will never give way in my heart. PLEASE JOIN!

Shelley (shanpat) | 4 comments I love all of his books! I would have to say my favorite though is The Notebook. I reread that book every summer and it never gets old!

I also loved The Wedding, The Lucky One, The Guardian, and A Bend in the Road. All really good reads!

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 8 comments Hello I'm new to reading Nicholas Sparks, I recently read The Gaurdian and I was impressed. I usually don't read anything set after 19 century being a historical fanatic. I just bought Dear John which I plan to start reading as soon as I'm finished reading my current book. I'm very pro-military so thats why I picked up Dear John first of all then realized the author. I saw a new release The Lucky One and have preordered the paperback so will look forward to reading that as well.

I have watched all his book adaptations to movies so don't think I'll read those titles but can anyone suggest another good read as I'm wanting to read more of his work?

message 6: by Rickie (new)

Rickie Crandall (sidstia) | 8 comments By far my favorite is The Rescue...and the 3 weeks with my Brother, although I would not recommend reading it while on a cross country flight, all my crying started to scare people....hehe

anything by him is wonderful, if you can deal with heartache I suggest the Rescue and A Bend in the Road both are underappreciated Nic Sparks books but probably in my top 5

Absolutely!!!.. True Believer and At First Sight were HUGE tear jerkers!!! I definitely did NOT see that coming in At First Sight..ughh!!! I still can't believe how he's able to tug at our heartstrings like that!!..That's why I'm kinda dreading seeing Dear John, because I don't want to start bawling in the theater because I can relate to this story in particular..lol.

Alese (ireadtoescapereality) | 51 comments Mine was dear john.. just finished it.. man, what a heartbreaker. Ive not read his other ones yet. I want to though.

message 22: by Christine (new)

Christine | 2 comments Message in a Bottle deeply touched my heart and brought many tears to my eyes. As I read, I felt an intense connection with the characters’ feelings, especially when Theresa who finds a beautiful and oh so tender love letter inside of a bottle and then Garret the man who wrote it and put into the sea. As I read each of the beautiful love letters, I felt the unconditional way I want to be loved. These letters are the kind all women long to receive, read, cry over, and reread endlessly. Nicholas Sparks is a man who knows exactly how to write in order to touch a true romantics’ heart.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. I live near the largest military base in the country, and I've talked to many whose boyfriends/husbands(including myself)they had to say goodbye to because they're serving our country,so I think you'd be surprised just how many people go through that and definitely relate, I think if anything The Last Song will be harder to relate to vs. Dear John...sorry, no hard feelings, just stating my opinion.

message 28: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Recently I've read "The Lucky One" which was quit amazing for me because Nicholas Sparks could depict the whole story with primitive item that it was the photo of unknown woman. I really liked to read it and now I'm trying to read "Dear John".

So far, my favorites are Message In A Bottle & The Last Song.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

My favorites are The Notebook, Message In A Bottle and A Walk to Remember. I think I like his older books, because they were made when he was just beginning to write, although I like his new books such as The Last Song, they seem like they are alittle update. Is it just me I dont know but I like those 4.

I love the first 3 you mentioned...although those are the only books of his I have read! I love the movies that go with them also except for Message In A Bottle. I am really looking forward to reading all of his books but it's just a matter of time...I bought Dear John (the movie) yesterday but am debating if I want to watch it or wait until I read it!

message 33: by Maria (new)

Maria (gomezmaria) A Walk to Remember is my favorite. That book made me feel as if I was right there, watching everything with my own eyes.

Isabel | 3 comments My favorite whould be the Walk to Remeber. The reason is simple it was the first Nicholas Sparks book I read and I have been hooked ever since.

message 41: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Valleroy | 1 comments My favorite book has to be The Notebook. It was the first book I ever read and I was hooked. I've gotten away from reading his books for a bit so I have alot to catch up on, but The Notebook is such a sweet story. I've gotten others hooked on Sparks books by telling them to read The Notebook!

message 42: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 11 comments Dear John was my favorite. However it's very had to pick which one stands above the other. They all have a different story to tell. I loved Message in a Bottle. I didn't want to read it because i have seen the movie, but i picked it up and couldn't put it down. The movie has nothing on the book.
I am currently reading The Guardian....its somewhat different. Unexpected so to speak. I love all his books. He is my favorite.

message 43: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) | 39 comments I agree about Message In A Bottle. I read it and loved the book...watched the movies with high expectations b/c I loved the book so much but ended up hating the movie!

message 44: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 11 comments The only movie that lived up to the book was "The Last Song"....i cried more with the movie then the book, it just seemed real. :)

message 46: by Nataly (new)

Nataly | 8 comments I love all his book so far that i have personaly looked at but so far my fav is THE LAST SONG! It was a tear jerker especially for daddy's girls :) but Dear John is also up there. And wow the notebook was great too ugh its so hard to choose!

When I started getting interested with his books.. Well I bought them all. I haven't read all of them but The notebook, The last song, A walk to remember, The rescue and Dear John will stay in my heart forever. I will never forget them.. because I just can't.

message 50: by Samrina (new)

Samrina | 2 comments heyy...im new to the group but a very old nicholas sparks' fan...i have read all his books and i cant wait to see wt he's writing nxt...his best novel till date has to be "the notebook"...havnt read anything more touching and romantic before...fell in love with the characters instantly....i also liked it coz it was the second novel i read of his after "a walk to remember", which was a pleasure to read too, and it was a fresh start...since then i have started understanding his pattern of writing.. if anyone wants to start reading his books frm now...i recommend go with the order in which he's written them... his latest book "safe haven" was amazing too but the typical nicholas sparks magic was missing somewhr...but still....im a hopelesss addict!
