Danielle (leaningsun) | 8 comments What Elizabeth Taylor books is everyone planning to read?

I don't have a copy of At Mrs Lippincote's but I do have others. I was thinking of either Angelor A Game of Hide and Seek. I also have .Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont which seems to be popular.

I plan on starting Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont tonight or tomorrow.

Danielle (leaningsun) | 8 comments I finished Angel this weekend and thought it was a great book. Angel was quite a character though not very likable but I think it says something about an author that can make you feel something for an unlikable character. This was my first Elizabeth Taylor and I thought her writing was excellent.

Laura (digifish_books) I'm still waiting on a library patron to return In a Summer Season. It is 8 days overdue. Maybe I should just buy a copy!

At Mrs. Lippincote's just arrive in the mail! After errands and such, I'll dive right in this afternoon.

I finished Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont on Friday. I was very surprised at the sadness and loneliness evoked in the book. I've never read Elizabeth Taylor before, and for some reason I kept thinking she would be like Barbara Pym. Taylor's novel was beautiful and there was humor, but it felt a bit more bittersweet and serious than Pym. Any thoughts on Taylor from first time readers?

Laura (digifish_books) Although I'd seen the movies 'Mrs Palfrey' and 'Angel' I'd never actually read anything by Elizabeth Taylor. So, it has been great to have this group author read to spur me into action! I've finished and really enjoyed 'At Mrs Lippincotes' and hope to start 'In a Summer Season' (which has finally turned up at my Library!) but may not finish it before the end of Feb.
