I just finished Soulless Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger It was pretty good...I actually really liked the characters a lot!! I only gave it 4 stars but that was mainly because there was so much background information to get through that it kind of draged it down in a few parts...I can't wait to read the next one and see what happens:)

I totally agree with you. There will also be a third book but it has not been released. I love that the books are set in the Victorian Era also.

message 35: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oliviamclennon) | 1 comments Just finished The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer Two thumbs up!

message 36: by Chelly (new)

Chelly Wood (mfogelsong) | 2 comments I just finished reading I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. This is a vampire book for all the GUYS out there. Lots of action, death, and violence.

There's also a movie starring Will Smith. Here's a link to the Youtube preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewpYq9...

This book is very short--easy to read in a day or two--but I'm sure the movie is very different. Why? Because the book was written, like in the 1950's or something, about a futuristic world (so it's sort of post-apocalyptic). So they'd have to change a lot of it to have it make sense to modern viewers.

Krystal (krystal_f) | 1609 comments I finally finished Dear John by Nicholas Sparks by Nicholas Sparks This book is great because it shows one of the very true aspects about love....that you look of for the other persons best interests. This is the 2nd book that I've read by Nicholas Sparks and I must say he is making an awesome track record for himself.

A few friends of mine kept criticizing me for wanting to read his books because they said that somebody always dies of cancer. I had to agree about that but I have found that it doesn't matter they are all still really good! My favorite of his is Message in a bottle, and the Last Song. Glad somebody else is enjoying his books, plus they are an easy read!

message 41: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (krystal_f) | 1609 comments Yes they are good. Thats the only criticism I really have of Nicholas Sparks....his books do have some heavy foreshadowing so most times you can kinda tell what is going to happen, AND although he has different story lines, as your friends said, someone almost always dies..lol. He's a good writer though and his books are a good read! I havent read message in a bottle yet, but I think I may!

message 42: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (krystal_f) | 1609 comments Wow...I just finished Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella and I cannot stop beaming/gushing over how inspiring this book was. Yes...INSPIRING....is the word I used and I cant believe it myself! I was completely drawn in and just HAD to figure out what happened in this woman life to cause her to just completely transform and reinvent herself, and the amazing part to me is that she was successful at it. This is a great book to read just because it shows that we really do have the ability, and can find the courage, to change our lives and become the people we want to be. And of course im true Sophie Kinsella style it did have a few laugh Out Loud moments. I loved this book, and I'd definetly recommend it! (I could go on forever about this book but that is all I will say for now..wink)

message 48: by Kayla (last edited Jan 01, 2011 07:07AM) (new)

Kayla Duff I just finished reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer . It was really, really good. Pretty cool, and now I can visualize exactly everything about the newborns. Though I think the Riley in the book didn't quite fit with his personality (what we can see of it) in the movie.
