Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) This a thread for discussion of 80s New Wave/Post-Punk, or the modern incarnations of this music.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I absolutely love New Wave music. Some of my current favorite bands are essentially making the same kind of music I loved in the 80s.

Some of my new faves:

Interpol
The Killers
Editors
Moving Units
Franz Ferdinand
White Lies
The Departure

I'm sure I'm forgetting some....

Sans Franz Ferdinand rocks my socks. As do The Killers and Interpol.

Sans Have you heard Patrick Wolf? He's pretty awesome.
Bluebells and Hard Times are a couple of my favourites.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'll check into him, Sans. Thanks.

Dana * (queenofegypt) I listen to First Wave on XM radio all the time, does that fit this category?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Dana, I love First Wave. It does indeed. Modest Mouse is good stuff.

Sans Eugenia, I was addicted to Float On when it came out. They weren't so good in concert though.I went to the Download Festival several years ago and saw some awesome bands. H.I.M, The Doves, I think British Sea Power was there, The Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse and the Killers. Sadly, Modest Mouse was the worst act. :-(

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) The Arcade Fire was good? I have one of their cds. It's really hit or miss with me.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I forgot The Bravery. Great band.

Sans They put on a really good live show but I was never a big fan of theirs. I really only like two or three of their songs. There were nearly 20 people on the stage when they were on though! Huge band and all their backup instruments made it a little crazy.

Kinda like Silversun Pickups. I like only a few of their songs but they have great energy live (they're opening for Muse's U.S. tour) so you end up getting into the music a bit more than you would have otherwise.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I love groups with a lot of instrumentation in their songs. The Arcade Fire is one of those bands I almost like, but not quite.

You're so right about Silverspun Pickups. I think they're too similar to Smashing Pumpkins for me. (I like SP, and I wish SP would find their own sound).

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) You might like Tokyo Police Club. I'm checking out the music sampler for them right now.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Bloc Party is a good post-punk band, as well. Also Brit Rock. A girl at Best Buy suggested them when I told her about my all-consuming love for Interpol. They count Interpol as a big influence.

Sans I've been hit or miss with Tokyo Police Club too! I kinda like them but I'm still on the fence. Bloc Party has some awesome stuff. 'I Still Remember' is such a great song.

Mariel (fuchsiagroan) I LOVE Patrick Wolf. Love love love him. Do you also listen to Owen Pallett (also known as Final Fantasy)?
