Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I used to be really big on buying soundtracks. I don't think I've bought one in years now. :(

message 2: by Eastofoz (new)

Eastofoz Pulp Fiction has an awesome soundtrack I agree with you there Eugenia.

When Harry Met Sally is one of my faves as is Mona Lisa Smile.

message 3: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) I've never been much into soundtracks, but the ones I do own are:

The Piano
Schindler's List
A Knight's Tale
Pulp Fiction

O Brother Where Art Thous

message 4: by Eastofoz (new)

Eastofoz Two French movie soundtracks that I really liked are:

Les Choristes (The Chorus in English)
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (I think it's just "Amelie" in English)

message 5: by southpaw285 (new)

southpaw285 I haven't bought a soundtrack in quite some time. However, my very favorite soundtrack still to this day is "The Bodyguard" soundtrack. I love it.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I lied. I bought the New Moon soundtrack. I forgot about that.
I have downloaded a few songs from Amazon that are from soundtracks lately:

Another Way to Die by Alicia Keys/Jack White
You Know My Name by Chris Cornell (Casino Royale)
Against the Odds by Phil Collins

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) Do tv soundtracks count?

Angelo Badalamenti's soundtracks for the Twin Peaks series and movie are great. They're dark and a bit creepy and set a lovely atmosphere.

I also like a few of the songs from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's 1st soundtrack. A few are pop fluff/annoying but a few are haunting.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Abso-smurfly!

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) smurftastic ;)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I see you got it. :)

Last of the Mohicans is a good instrumental.
Into the Wild is short but good.

message 14: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Musicals are a totally different mind set for me

message 15: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) How could I forget The Big Chill soundtrack? That album is full of good oldies.

message 16: by Liz (new)

Liz (zucchiniesinbikinies) The Big Chill soundtrack is brilliant! I haven't seen the movie though - my parents just have the cd...

message 17: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) Liz, it's a good movie. You should watch it one day if not just to see all those actors looking so young. Meg Tilly was about twenty years old.

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I don't own a lot of soundtracks. I own songs from Soudtracks.

Like Patti Rothberg did a soundtrack for a movie that was never released and I like that one.
I bought Decode off the Twilight album 'cause I liked the song. I don't like Twilight thoughm, so I changed the picture..

message 20: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay The only song I know from a walk to remember is Only Hope. I prefer when Switchfoot sings it over Many Moore.

message 21: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) The Crow
Heavy Metal
Forrest Gump
Reservoir Dogs
O Brother Where Art Thou

message 22: by Gary (new)

Gary | 70 comments I don't tend to buy soundtracks as I usually just buy albums by bands I like on a soundtrack (thanks Jackie Brown for Dusty Springfield and Dazed and Confused for Bob Dylan, Edgar Winter and I'm sure others I can't think of right now), but sometimes there are soundtracks that are just amazing, Once Upon a Time in the West and Dead Man are among my all time favorites, it's all about the atmosphere so I usually prefer a soundtrack that is written especially for a film than one that is basically a compilation.

Interview With the Vampire is enchanting. I also like Hair, but I'm not sure if that counts here.

These are some of my favorites. I'm going to try to keep them in chronological order.

1) Funny Girl ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2) A Clockwork Orange

3) Jesus Christ Superstar ~~~~~ If you have never seen this movie before, look it up and give it a viewing. It's a really good movie. I still remember it and I was only 10 when it came out. I think my sister still has the album, we used to listen to it all the time.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this already, but Nick Cave makes some really great soundtracks. He's done movies like The Proposition and that recent Jessie James movie (I can't remember the title right now) with Brad Pitt.

Lonnie Michael wrote: "Glad to see someone still remembers Streets of Fire"

Oh yeah... Streets of Fire. I didn't think the movie was stellar but I do remember the music. Back when that movie (and Eddie & the Cruisers) was out I thought Michael Pare was going to be the next Brando. Boy was I wrong but I still love listening to both of those soundtracks.

Yeah I had high hopes for him as well. But the soundtracks from those movies are really good. I went thru several cassette tapes back in the day. Do you remember Willem Dafoe in Streets Of Fire? He was so mean, and awesome.

Jason (darkfiction) | 126 comments Mod
I'm a big fan of Willem Defoe, myself. He was awesome in one of my favorite movies, Platoon.

message 30: by Brainycat (new)

Brainycat And let's not forget his classic performance in Boondock Saints, either.

YES!!! That was the funniest role he's ever played! I loved it. His part in that movie was what made that movie good, IMO.

message 32: by jamaicaska (new)

jamaicaska | 7 comments I also enjoy listening to movie soundtracks..I have a copy of Andre Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. I like Moulin Rouge's songs. My favorite soundtrack is from Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's movie, Once. Their song Falling Slowly won various awards. And of course, The Holiday has very nice Imogen Heap songs. 500 days of Summer has a nice soundtrack too.

And I dont know if this is regarded as part of a soundtrack but the funniest for me is Nacho Libre's Encarnacion song.
