Man! That really makes me feel old! LOL!
I loved it - I can't believe I never read it when I was in school. It was suspenseful but not too sad or depressing. I especially liked that it told about aspects of the holocaust that I had never heard before - how Denmark worked to smuggle the Jews to Sweden and how they came up with the blood/cocaine powder to twart the officer's dogs sense of smell. Very cool.
Hopefully your students will appreciate the wonderful story!

I thought the same thing, but the book didn't come out until 98, so wasn't around for our elementary schooling :)

I love that it is used to help teach WWII and the Holocaust because it is such a touching and well written story.

Did you enjoy it? It is intense, but oh so interesting.

I really enjoyed it. It really reinforced that this why we learn about history - so that we never forget how something like this could happen.

I wish they taught history the way that the book is written- primary sources and stories.
