Here is where you can discuss the cover of breaking dawn

-What do you think it means?
-Do you like it?
Whatever. Discuss away

*NOTE* DO NOT DISCUSS THE PROLOUGE OR FIRST CHAPTER ON THIS FORUM. IF YOU'VE READ IT, GREAT FOR YOU BUT DO NOT SPOIL IT. I WILL DELETE ANY SPOILERS I FIND***

Gunjari (irajnug) THE COVER IS OUT????
I WILL GO LOOK AT IT RIGHT NOW!!!
(agonized whisper: why doesn't anybody tell me these things?)(stare pointedly at older sister, official twilight obsessist, if that is even a word)

message 3: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) OMG. I SAW IT. I AM UTTERLY STUMPED.
what the heckia could it mean????? somebody please enlighten me!

message 4: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Someone told me this before...well, on a chess board, different pieces can affect in different ways. So, if the chessboard represents Bella's life, maybe the Queen, who has more power over the board, would be Edward, and the prawn would be Jacob.

hmm very insightful.

message 6: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) i noticed something, not sure how important it is: usually on a chess board the peices are black and white, but here they're red and white. think that bella is the queen, cause she was the "apple" on the cover of twilight, and the queen and the apple are both red. plus, red could symbolize bella's blood... plus technically, she is the "queen" in the story...

what do you guys think?

message 7: by Katie (new)

Katie (astronomy_rocks) | 3 comments I read somewhere that the read peice stands for Bella's human life. Then the white peice stands for Bella as a vampire.

message 8: by Maya (new)

Maya (mswwsmmsw) I reallly want her to become a vampire.
Realllly bad.
The cover is interesting, but I'm not going to base too much off of it. Because the things on the over covers - the apple, the flower, and the ribbon, had nothing really to do with the book. (Unless I wasn't looking into it enough)
:)

message 9: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin That's interesting, Katie. Does that mean that Bella will make a greater "impact" when she's a vampire then when she was a human? Or maybe it simply means that Bella's life will be longer when she's a vampire. Obviously.

message 10: by Bakeshow (new)

Bakeshow (bakeshow77) Really? I thought that all three covers were very significant. I didn't get them at first, but once I read the books, their meanings were pretty obvious.

message 11: by Sella (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:34AM) (new)

Sella Malin I understand Twilight and Eclipse, but what about New Moon? How is that significant?

message 12: by Maya (new)

Maya (mswwsmmsw) hehe.. I didn't understand any of them - how do you guys think they are significant?

message 13: by Kristina (new)

Breaking Dawn is the last book from Bella's pespective

Midnight Sun is Twilight from Edwards point of veiw

The Covers of Twilight, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn are significant and have meanings.

Twilight - the forbidden fruit.. Bella is the forbidden fruit to edward. It also represents choice. Do they bite the apple or not?

New Moon- The cover has no meaning. Stephenie was not involoved in the cover design

Eclipse- The tearing ribbon is Bella realizing she will lose part of her life when she choices Edward.

Breaking Dawn- I have no idea because I haven't read it. But Stephenie has said that the cover has meaning.

*NOTE* these are not my assumptions. This post is information form Stephenie website, or an interveiw she has given. Thanks. : )

message 14: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Actually, Stephenie Meyer did choose the new moon cover. It says on her site that she just felt like having that flower, because it looked cool.

message 16: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) I don't like the cover but it's the content I care about.

same (totally)

message 19: by Janepage (new)

Janepage Don't the Cullens like playing chess? Maybe it resembles Bella becoming part of their family.

message 20: by Mounica (last edited Jul 29, 2008 12:09PM) (new)

Mounica I agree with Katie.

The red pawn in the background: Bella before she was changed. Small, insignificant, and SHE BLUSHES. SHE WAS WARM. Thats where the red comes in…..

The white queen: Bella after she was changed. Strong, powerful, COLD, WHITE, and beautiful.

So, does that mean that Bella WILL be changed into a vampire, afterall??

message 21: by Janepage (new)

Janepage Does anyone live in Cali?

message 22: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) hmmm... interesting very interesting (strokes chin)

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

that doe's seem very likely i can't wait for the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!

♥{Miranda!®}♥ (bella) I think it means that there is going to be a challenge... like Edward challenges someone, or if Bella and Edward get in a fight???? I dont know, just a guess!

message 25: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments Well, I know most of u have read the book so you know what it means by now, but I think that the red pawn represents bella before she turned, (I hope she does!) because of her blood, and her weakness as a human, and the white queen is her as a vampire, because she is powerful and cold and all. Someone said that i think, but that's my idea!
And I never really got any of the covers until I read the coments. I get it now!!!! yay!!!

message 26: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) yes, your theory seems most likely, i've heard a lot of people say that one. i'm not quite done with the book yet, but apperantly there's another rumored meaning but i won't get it until i finish!

message 27: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments hmm...!

message 28: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) okay, i finished but i can't think of another meaning.
the ending was sweet though!

message 29: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments kewl! i just started so... dont tell me!

message 30: by Maryann (new)

Maryann (uorgirl) | 3 comments What does the cover mean?

Breaking Dawn's cover is a metaphor for Bella's progression throughout the entire saga. She began as the weakest (at least physically, when compared to vampires and werewolves) player on the board: the pawn. She ended as the strongest: the queen. In the end, it's Bella that brings about the win for the Cullens.

message 31: by ♥ Sarah ♥ (new)

♥ Sarah ♥ (sarah_aka-me) | 1 comments Yeah, what Maryann said is what Stephenie Meyer said so
