Does the Self-Promo thread cover our needs, or do we need
a Spam folder for repetitive self-promo?

Kevin | 3 comments I'm just wondering what the rules are for self promotion. I was interested in posting some info on my book but I don't see anyone else posting info on their books so I'm not sure if that's allowed.

Kevin,
Some people do post self promo in the Self-Promo thread, (and some of it is very self serving).

This group is "Tips for..." so most people try to post information, or to offer reciprocation for promo as opposed to outright asking colleagues to purchase one's own book.

Check out the wealth of helpful discussions we have here. One of the best is Todd's How To Get To #1 On Amazon (because you can submit your blurb, Todd will post it, everyone who reciprocally tags will see it, and tag for you... and you'll tag for everyone else.)

The top advice on GoodReads is "Be Part Of The Conversation". Parse that. It's deep.

Goodreads has these links of great advice how to play along.

There are other groups on GoodReads that explicitly encourage posting about individual books, but beware of the groups that forbid it, because some of them do report "spammers" to the authorities, and reported "spammers" do get punished.

:-)
