Magic Bleeds (book 4)
Wasn't it just awesome! So many great funny lines, scary fights, and hot Curran! I loved it :DCome on KATE 5!!!
There were a lot of scary fights, weren't there? Like eight of them, LOL. Did she have to have seven henchmen?! LOL.
LOL! Yes, they were grate though :)I kept thinking, how TF does Ilona knows how to fight so superbly??
I have to reread it, this time without my heart in my throat :) I've probably missed out on a lot of stuff, reading it without breathing =D
Same here V, I think I missed a lot. A rereading is def in order! Tag team is great. They work so well together, and their styles blend so well.7 henchmen was a bit much NU! I remember while reading that honestly she should be dead like 12 times over by now!
I'm really looking forward to finding out more about croc lady, not to mention Hugh's plans in general.

That would be awesome Laura! Currently they are contracted for 7 Kate books, so maybe this up coming one is with another enemy and sets up for Hugh, the 6th against Hugh and sets up for Roland, and the 7th book the end all be all fight to the death against Roland.
I'm really curious to see how they'll make the actual relationship interesting, without losing the edge on one hand or resorting to a major crises on the other.
I think they will still have a crap load of arguments and most likely fist fights leading to the makeing up that readers will demand! LOL!

They will still both be their usual stubborn ass selves, not wanting to back down--we'll have lots of fights & make ups. :)

I was thinking the same thing!
*spoiler* I've read a lot of good reviews about Magic Bleeds and it IS quite amazing, but I think Magic Strikes was still better. Magic Bleeds focused a bit too much on the romance, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVED Kate and Curran together. But the focus on their relationship kind of made the plot and mystery line more loose and not as captivating as the ones in the previous books. Like there wasn't much about battling, planning and everything against Erra, which I had looked forward too. And now that Kate and Curran are together, it's great and all but I kind of miss the joking threats, the frustration and irritation that made it hilarious before. The playful banter is still there but there's less of it which I miss.
There were also a few loose ends at the end of the book. Usually each book ends up wrapped up well and could stand as an individual book. But this time there was the matter of Julie going back to the school, what happened to Andrea and Raphael (that is a big one), and Andrea being mad at Kate and all (I still didn't really catch why they got into an argument at all actually) Also, there was less about Jim and Derek which I missed too.
Other than these few small things, Magic Bleeds was amazing. I like how she came clean and told Curran about who she was and how he accepted her regardless and still loves her. I can't wait for Magic Slays to come out.

I agree with you about the loose ends - not that they are driving me to insomnia but I find myself thinking about why Andrea is mad at Kate. I do hope Ilona Andrews didn't decide to "kill" either Andrea or Raphael because I like them a lot and I would appreciate if their conflict were somehow resolved (with both being alive at the end of it!)
She shouldn't be mad with Kate. I think it may have been b/c KAte left the Order and now she is there by herself with the bastard boss that knows that something is up with Andrea but he doesn't know what it is. And if Kate did stay there she could've changed the way things were in the order. I know they were talking about that in Magic Bleeds, but I think thats a stupid thing to fight about. Kate should get to do what she wants and people were in trouble she has the heart where she wants to help them.
I think that boss guy was an ass anyway. Kate could easily take him. She is stronger than him anyway.

Totally agree with your romance comment, not to mention the loose ends. I enjoyed the romance in Magic Bleeds but what I think works best for Ilona Andrews is for them to be more plot focused with a healthy serving of Curran on the side.
Yup, like I liked the slow pace of their relationship. It made it a lot more realistic unlike a lot of other Urban Fantasy books out there.
No kidding. I like the soulmate and instant attraction idea but too many authors do that now a days.
Yeah like urban fantasy really does take "instant" to a whole new level. Like really, falling into bed and making out three seconds after you meet really gets old
Nice occasionally, but it becomes very tedious. That's part of what I really liked about Curran and Kate's relationship. They actually bonded then fell in bed together instead of the other way around.
Totally. Like I love how they got to know each other and they went through so much. The love/hate relationship was really cute too =D
They're dialogue is AMAZING!!!!! And they actually get mad at eachother. Like, you know how in some books either the characters are off and la-la land where everything is perfect or the love interests only get mad at each other for the plot, but with Kate and Curran, they're such real characters that they're actually pissed off at the other.
Have you read the teaser in appreciation of Curran making it past round one in the Alpha Showdown? If not, here's the link:http://www.ilona-andrews.com/2011/05/...

Thanks for the link!!! Haven't read it yet!!
Lol, when I was reading the series--which was like two or three weeks ago--I kept randomly laughing and then my friends would like assault me with "What? What is it?! What did Curran say?!" Though none of them have read the series yet (they've all sworn that they will read them soon) they love the characters and read all the scenes I thought were funny.
LOL yeah my friend goes with all my book rants, she's totally up to date with all the characters I love even though she's never read the books XD
On the Alpha Showdown pole going on right now, I convinced some of my friends to vote for Kate and Curran over their opponents even though they've read the books that the opponents are in. They know my obsession and I have them obsessed with it even though they haven't read them to the point that they blindly vote for characters that they've only heard of over ones they;ve read about.
Oh, my God, did you see the pole about 5 ish hours before it closed?! It was like, Curran would be in the lead by 7 votes, I'd refresh the page. 3 votes. Refresh. 1 vote. Refresh and he was losing by five. Somehow Curran got TONS of votes and won, thank god.

Atlanta would be a nice place to live, if it weren’t for the magic. When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it rose.
Kate Daniels works for the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, officially as a liaison with the mercenary guild. Unofficially, she cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to handle—especially if they involve Atlanta’s shapeshifting community.
When she’s called in to investigate a fight at the Steel Horse, a bar midway between the territories of the shapeshifters and the necromancers, Kate quickly discovers there’s a new player in town. One who’s been around for thousands of years—and rode to war at the side of Kate’s father.
This foe may be too much even for Kate and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, to handle. Because this time, Kate will be taking on family…
