What would it be?

If we could take a series, I would have to take a long series so that it would last longest, so I would take... Carpathian series by Christine Feehan, 20 books and counting!

Can't I just take my Kindle, fully loaded!

No wait, it would die after a week.....

The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. It would take forever to read all the books and I still wouldn't be able to say everything that happened. lol

The longest series I can think of...Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters :)

I know sometimes, when series get that many books they just start to go downhill.. if not I will be adding that to be TBR pile

I like them, but Christine Feehan has a very distinctie style, you either love or hate her. I personally love them, no one quite writes a alpha male like CF!

I think it would be the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning for me. I love this series!

Dark hunter series, because there are enough books to lastfor awhile. Or Anita Blake,or the breeds they all havealot ofbooks in the series tokeep me going.

I would take Andre Norton's Witch World series. Its like 30 books or so long.

Deanne--I'd skip the BDB and go right for Night Huntress if it were me. But then again--I happen to think that the books of the BDB series were a horrible waste of a tree's life.

Oh, I'm so with you on that one, Ann. I love the Witch World. I have all the books (I think), and they still hold up well after all these years. They'd be a great choice for a desert island!

I would take Black Dagger Brother for first choice. Barring that then the Dark Hunter series. But do we get the new ones in the series as they are published?

hard question....there are so many series that I love. I'll have to ponder this....

Could we take the complete works of a fave author instead, and have the new ones dropped off as they are published? I think that would be better : )

I know Sandra. They really DO hold up well. And the good thing about them (for those who haven't read them) is that because of the Gates, you never knew who/what was going to turn up next. Or when they/it was going to be from.

The first book Witch World is set not too long after WWII ends. The last one involving that character finds a ship from our Earth that is from "now"--and he's only about 20 or so years older than when he left Earth.

A really great series. It has everything--magic, meyhem, fae, witches, mad Nazi-type super-scientists, all KINDS of neat stuff.

It's an absolutely fabulous series for anyone who likes fantasy. Norton does relationships well, too. I also like her science fiction oriented books. Moon of Three Rings was the first of hers I read when I was seventeen (long, long ago). Talk about a gateway drug! Space traders, magic, body exchange between human and animal, adventure-I was hooked. And then I found the Witch World.

Oooo! Gena Showalter's Lords Of The Underworld series because I could never get tired of reading them! ^-^

I haven't read The Witch World series in years so I'd have to go with that. I think I may have to re-read them.

I would have to take the BDB. I could read about the "Brothers" all day long. =) Right behind that would be Night Huntress, Midnight Breed, LOTU, & IAD.

One of the challenges I'm on for another group (its a 6 month challenge) is to read by original Copyright date. I'm thinking about using Andre Norton's works for that. She has a solid string from 1951 all the way to 2002 I think it was. At least, that's as far as the one web-site listed. I know that wasn't the last--she published her last book 2 months before her death--and there are more books that have been held up in a nasty probate fight. Still, I mean, come on--at the minimum one book a year for 51 years? Most years it was 2 or 3 or 4 or even 5. The woman was a powerhouse when it came to writing. :o)

I would say the sookie stackhouse series by charlaine harris, there are 10 books so far, and I seem to love reading them over and over and over, etc…..if I could take the kindle and have it never die, that would be awesome…..

I just bought a 12 pack of Andre Norton books for my kindle. This discussion made me want to read some of them again. And you can't go wrong for 99 cents

I think that I would take my favorite book: Bloodroots by Richie Tankersley Cusick. Even though I've already read it three times, I don't think....I KNOW...that I could never get tired of it.
Although, Roots by Alex Haley would be my second choice. the overall length would be good enough to last. Plus the content is soooo amazing.

Would it be cheating to say I'd take the Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook series? Those seem like they'd be most useful on a desert island.

Molly--the way I look at it is--we as readers have actually READ about all kinds of places and things--so we'd stand a much better chance of surviving than non-readers would. Plus, its going to be a really tough time, so I'd want an "old friend" to help me out by providing some time to "get away from all the hardship" as it were. Which I think is the reason for this question.

Think i would take the pellinor series by Alison Croggon. Really good books, but also takes awhile to read cuz of the language used it them.
