Frank,Thank for bringing attention to Mr. Goldstein's book. I've read it too, and found Mr. Bundy's insights compelling.
To attempt comprehension of the tragedy of our involvement in Vietnam, Lessons in Disaster: McGeorge Bundy and the Path to War in Vietnam should be read in conjunction with Fire in the Lake: The Vietnamese and the Americans in Vietnam by Frances Fitzgerald, and The Best and the Brightest by David Halberstam. The lessons learned arguably remain relevant today as we assess our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.
