Since most bands talked about in this group are either British or American lets have a clash of the titans, who's the best and why?

As an American, of course I'd say the US but I will agree that the UK has put out a few really great groups :)

Call me Sweden I feel they both have awesome music depending on era. Canada too actually.

Well I'm from neither country so to me they're both great, will just depend on genre and as Amanda said the era too.

I really can't decide. Britian was good for rough punk and innovative rock (Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) but America has quite a few too.

I'm not to up to date with all the text speak thats used these days but you can put me down for the one thats beyond rolling on the floor laughing.

Besides, what makes you so sure I'm voting for Britain on this one? If I were to list say my top 20 favorite artists/bands I might have more British than Americans in there but you guys have Frank Zappa so for me this ceases to be any contest, we kick ass but you guys win.

I'd have to go with Britain, although the Soul/R&B/Jazz/Blues movements originated in America and it's had heavy influences on British music. Rock and Roll and Brit-Soul.

Britiain hands down, no question, Sir Elton John, Jethro Tull, Beatles.
The list is endless, Genesis. But then there were also, Cat Stevens, who was in a class by himself. Carly Simon, Simon and Garfunkel. But musically England for domination of the world market.

Can we truly leave Japan out of this debate? I mean, who doesn't love Shonen Knife? lol ;)

The British Invasion changed the world of music forever, but the American Revolution that followed definitely made things more interesting. The Airplane and the Dead helped to define the psychedelic era along with Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues.

Don't know any Japanese bands.

Now that I think about it, I don't really listen to US artists/bands. In my mind, UK or European artists in general always win. So much talent on so little space. Interpol and Garbage are OK, though, for some reason I thought Interpol were British as well.

Interpol has that britrock sound going on.
