Any Wheeler fans out there? Any Kindle users?

I've been working with Richard to put up several of his classic titles on Kindle. We're sort of neighbors (Montana style--he's 125 miles away).
The first went live this weekend. Masterson . [image error] This is a somewhat whimsical recap of Bat Masterson's life, as, in 1919, he and his wife head west from New York City to visit his old haunts and try to correct the many misconceptions that formed his legend.

More Wheeler titles will be up in August.

Dale (and others),

If you ever do a search for Wheeler westerns and historical fiction titles, don't forget to add the middle initial.
"Richard Wheeler" will get you a dozen or so books he didn't write.

Robert Arl (robcsk) | 2 comments I'm a big Wheeler fan. Most recently finished reading his novel "Goldfield." As a kindle owner I look forward to reading (re-reading) more of his novels in the kindle format.

Sorry, Steve,
I imagine the nook editions will come, but I don't know when.

You could get a free Kindle for PC (including laptops), you know, and have access to all the Kindle selections.

When Wheeler "nooks" or "ibooks" his titles it will definitely be posted. :-)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 62 comments Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the "Kindle for PC" option.

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 62 comments I noticed that we own about a dozen of Wheeler's books here in the Library, where I work. We don't have MASTERSON, unfortunately.

Can the "Barnaby Skye" novels be read in any order, or should I start with a certain one? We have a few.

@ Steve: [Can the "Barnaby Skye" novels be read in any order"] I think the Skye books are fairly stand alone, but there are so many of them, you might want to start with earlier ones to learn about ol' Barnaby.

Wheeler has a list of all his books and their pub dates on his blog

@Travis:["Keep in mind the ipad has an app for kindle. ] Kindle has apps for iPad, iPod, blackberry, droid, and more--all free. The app for PC that I use is quite nice. Don't know about the others.
["I have never read any of his work anyone have a suggestion?"] Suggestions would depend on the type of western fic. you like, I guess. He's written genre westerns and historical fiction, as well as fictionalized biographies. I personally liked
Masterson; with 5 SPUR awards under his belt, there's a lot from which to choose.

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 62 comments Thanks for the suggestion, Kae. As soon as I finish with THE VIRGINIAN and another book, I'll look into some of the Wheeler books we have in our collection.

Yes, I'm a Wheeler fan. No, those little kindie machines don't appeal. I like real hardcover print books that haven't been polluted with scented hand creams.

Favorites that come to mind : Sierra, and Dodging Red Cloud.

Sierra: A Novel Of The California Gold Rush
Dodging Red Cloud
