Team Edward discussion
Crisis of friendship - Edward vs. the Mutt!
I hate when people try and defend Jacob... I mean did Meyer not put in Eclipse that Edward was the one Bella could not live w/o like Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights. I do worry because Alice would see Bella's future changing if she chose Jacob :(, however why would Meyer be working on a book from Edward's perspective if he was not going to have Bella in the end?No one wants to hear the losers story--aka jacobs.
I'm not sure that there's any place in the Team Jacob folks' mind where they actually think he's going to succeed. What bothers me is that they think he's sooo much better for her than Edward. I mean come on. The Mutt is immature and irrational, and he straight up told Bella that he's playing games in order to try to win her "back". It's ridiculous. Edward just wants her to be happy, and the Mutt just wants HER. Who wins here?
Ha... yeah. I get what you are saying, and I agree I don't get why there is even a team Jacob. It is not a contest, Edward already has Bella. What I don't get is why they don't see Bella is wrong for Jacob. If she were truly the right person for him then he would have imprinted on her, and he has not.... I don't think he ever will if he hasn't by now. It seems like one of those "love at first werewolf sight" kinda things.
Yeah, I don't buy the imprinting on Bella theory. According to what we know about the process, it is upon first sight, and the wolf in question is supposed to just "know". I don't think there's any outstanding evidence to support that. I think Jake's trying to push Bella because he really wants it to happen to him. They also said it was a thing they were starting to suspect to be less rare than originally thought, so I'm hoping he finds another chick to follow around, and leave Bella alone.Well, not alone alone. I guess they could be friends. I guess.
I was wondering this a few days ago:Maybe Jacob will just not ever come back... I mean he is trying to get away it seems, but that is just wishful thinking. Quick ?: If the La Push werewolves are only around because the "cold ones" have reappeared, if Jacob gets away from cold ones will he phase back into a man and not be able to phase back into a wolf until the he comes across some vamps? Or do you think its a blood thing, and if so could descendants of La Push Indians off the reservation have children that are also phasing? What if that happened and a young girl came back to find out what was happening to her and Jacob imprinted with her?? That would solve a lot and bring a new character!
That is a really good question about the wolves... I don't know, I mean, obviously we can't think of it as a radius thing, because he was in Northern Canada or something when we last checked on him, right? So it would have to be linked by blood or by the land, which would have to mean that you're right - if a family moved away from La Push they would have to be changing as well! It's brilliant. I only hope adding a new character won't get Bella jealous for some reason. She'd probably do that just to get us riled up again!
I think Bella is going to be jealous. I think it was kind of foreshadowed in Eclipse. I just hope she doesn't do anything stupid to jeopardize Edward's faith in her. I think he is a little weary after her crying forever...and ever... Jacob sucks ha.
Hang on let me get the quote... it wasn't my quote and I don't think anyone ever found where it came from...
Here we go - I found this on the fan MySpace for Breaking Dawn:"As August 13th draws closer, Bella is more sure than ever that she has made the right choice - forsaking her human life to spend eternity with Edward. But a new enemy stalks closer, seeking to tear Bella and Edward apart forever, one with ties to both Vampire and Werewolf.
Can the treaty between the two hold?
Or will the new threat force both sides to settle their blood feud once and for all?
Because when the dawn breaks an angel will fall."
And since Bella calls Edward an angel so much there were some who thought he was going to die, and I don't want to believe that. So I thought maybe it was a fall from grace, like he was going to suck a motha dry, if you'll excuse the phrasing.
Yeah, I have thought that Edward might drain her almost fully when they try to consummate their impending marriage and thats when he would have to make her a vampire. But is that a reliable source? I mean the paragraph is it, uh, for real?
Dunno, your guess is as good as mine. In all honesty, it doesn't say where they got it from, so I'm wary.
Well, I hope its not true. I mean, I don't want anymore bad guys to enter. Although I am anxious to see what happens with the Volturi. I find it hard to believe as omniscient as Meyer makes them out to be that they do not know that the Cullen's worked with the werewolves. I could see this being a problem, breaking some kind of law, or at least making them madder about Bella.
That's what I'm thinking - a wolf/vamp treaty is going to piss them off, the Italian losers. I don't know what they're going to try to do about it though, maybe an entire Cullen family execution?
I am thinking Black Mail- like Alice and Edward come work for us, or we will kill you all or just Bella. But I don't know, Carlisle does have a lot of respect in the vamp world so maybe nothing. I think Jacob is going to die.
I'm VERY curious to see what Bella is like when she's changed... I wonder if she'll be as awesome as Aro thinks she will.
Hmm... Yeah me too. Sometimes I wonder about the Volturi- I mean it just seems like Aro mania. I hope in BD the other two come into play
I can see the Volturi being a pretty primary focus - I mean, what bad guys are there left? But then again... when will we run out of bad guys, really? If we can see some cross-continential vamp action.... that would be epic. They'll probably go for something more underhanded than a total army though... or would they?
No, I definitely think that they are underhanded. It is like Meyer is mocking modern day politicians: they are the law as long as they make the laws. So, I could see the Volturi trying to finagle a way to kill the Cullen's and the werewolves would be a good excuse, but I don't think that they will. I would be my literary life on Bella having to face them thought, and I hope she is changed by then. Perhaps a Volturi will kille Jacob. I could see that. Bella makes me mad though, she needs to wake up and smell the fake, funeral home roses, she has to become a vampire and Jacob Black is hindering her!
That would be a glorious ending, I love the idea of the Volturi killing Jacob (Maybe little Jane does some nasty stuff as well) and Bella being super pissed, changing, and facing them alone. Holy smokes. I can see it now!
Yeah, the only thing is-thats exactly what I am afraid she would do. It would hurt Edward so much, though I am sure she would understand. Jacob's temper would get him killed by them probably.....such a hot head. Someone in a conversation earlier actually said that Jacob should win because he is warm, and I quote "who wants to touch a cold shimmery thing when you can have a hot, tall guy"
An angel will fall... maybe the 'angel' is someone Bella holds dear to. It's deffinatly not Edward... maybe The Mutt? Kinda Hope so.
Me too, but Bella calls Edward an angel too much for it not to be a possibility. The Mutt needs to be taken care of some way, and although I'm not opposed to death, I don't wish too much ill on the guy (just for him to bugger off) so I'm crossing my fingers that he imprints on someone else and lives happily ever after.
Speaking of, I just went back to reread some stuff on stepheniemeyer.com and I came across the question"Can a werewolf imprint on a vampire? What happens if a vampire bites a werewolf?"
To which she answered that she's not going to give away anything about the fourth book. This leads me to think that Jacob might imprint on a vampire... But whoooo. Also, he might get bitten to boot. What would happen then?
ooh. Thats scary. Whut if Jacob imprints on Bella when she's a vampire? o.O You know.. I was thinking... what would happen if the Volturri and the Cullens all joined together as one group? (Well, once the Volturri changes their diet)
xD The book comes out the day before my brother's B-day. Hey, Do you think it'll be sold at costco like they did with the Harry Potter books? Hope so. Or maybe just at book stores.
in a way the book also says that the mutt will always love bell and what if he steeals her away from edward*heart races in panic*
ooooh but if he does that, mutt's gona' get it sweet-_-
I don't think he could imprint on Bella when she becomes a vampire. I think there is too much internal/eternal hatred between vampires in werewolves. Even other fiction series about the two make that pretty clear (minus the Mortal Instruments, if you read, Simon and Maia). But who knows what Meyer will do.
I don't think there's any way that she could truly be stolen away. Even at the end of Eclipse when she finally admitted to herself "Shoot, I love the werewolf too. Only I would do this." she still said sorry, I love Edward more. I don't see that changing, I just see Bella freaking out about the Mutt more. And I don't think imprinting knows any supernatural bounds - that is, I don't think it depends on any kind of change except that of the one turning into a werewolf. And if we can all just go back to this again.... Meyer herself said that it was a "love at first sight" thing, and that Jacob had NOT imprinted on Bella the first time he saw her after the change. If you remember, he was mean to her and "broke up with her", whereas if he had imprinted he would have been able to tell her everything.
So take Bella off the imprinting list and think of who else he could imprint on! I always thought it was a shame that the newborn Bree just kind of died, I half expected something to come of her (like imprinting) but she's just you know... dead now. Kind of a shame.
maybe... *fantasizes greatly* jacob imprints on some other random obscure person and steph carts him off, and everyone is happy! let's not get my hopes up... sigh...
Hey, about breaking dawn, I think that...if...Bella becomes a vampire, she should have some kind of near-death experience and Edward saving her by biting her. It might be an interesting story. Then again, Stephenie Meyer can work her book magic into somthing more incredible? One more thing. Breaking Dawn isn't the last book. Stephenie Meyer just said that she was going to take a break before making another.
Well, some of you may allready know, some of you may not. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
*sigh* I totally understand what you mean(Eleven) all my friends are Team Jacob or partially Team Jacob...I'm the only true Edward fan. D: Although I would never ever disown them as friends just because they prefer an immature, selfish, possible-rapist(as proved by his lip rape, not once but twice, second time played with the kiss me or kill me black mail card),insensitive jerk. Ok maybe that's going too far, but I'm SO sick of trying to convince them that Edward ISN'T the baddie, because they're convinced he is. The problem is that they know Jacob would never end up with Bella (and are happy because they evidently hold a strong dislike for the girl, which I can often, though not always, relate to) and want him all to themselves/want him to come out happiest, regardless of whether this will make everyone else in the book happy or not. It's all about Jacob "I-Am-The-Sun" Black.
They're all like Jacob is just the best, so funny, cool, warm and hot, but Edward is just the worst, all cold, calculative, over protective and creepy. Basically Jacob rules, Edward sucks. Case closed. And I'm just writhing with indignation! I'm not a fan of Jacob, but their undying love for him irks me so much that I'm forced to hate him D:, simply because they make Edward look like a mangy, wet mutt compared to him.
T_T I feel like the minority over here in my little world, and that's so wrong, because Team Edward is obviously the majority. I just need back up sometimes! D:
I'm with you! Team Edward all the way! Jacob is such a jerk. I get why Bella liked him before but now that he's a werewolf he's so mean.
i am so with you Janepage!
GO TEAM EDWARD!!!
GO TEAM EDWARD!!!
You go girl! (To Eleven's first post) Edward all the way!! All Jacob can do that Edward can't is piss on trees. And that's hardly something to be proud of. lol.
What if Jacob imprints on Tanya in BD?It would make sense! Meyer said herself that she based the plot of BD on A Mid Summer Nights Dream. So it goes like this: Tanya and Bella are in love with Edward (as Lycander and Demetrius are in love with Hestia) while Jacob is in love with Tanya (as Helena is in love with Demetrius.)
And then the whole mix-up happens, and everything is put right at the end...
Does my theory make sense?
That would be an interesting turn of events, Sella.I don't even get why people think Jacob is even an option. The fact is that that he didn't imprint on Bella so even if, by some strange and ridiculously fashion, she did end up with Jacob he could imprint on anyone at anytime leaving Bella completely in the dust. Plus he is way too young, I don't get why a girl would ever want to put up with a 16 year old...
don't know, but it seem's unlikely.
GO TEAM EDWARD!!!!!!!!
GO TEAM EDWARD!!!!!!!!
OK... FIRST of all, do not ever call Jacob a MUTT! And Second, yes nothing can get in the way of Edward and Bella's relationship! BUT... Jacob was ALMOST always there for Bella!!! He deserves better than that! Put yourself in Bella shoes, she is so confused! And i bet even though she has some rough spots with Jacob she will never not want to see him again! When she becomes a Vampire, i bet there's not one day that goes by that Jacob is not in her head! I love Edward, but Jacob i love him just this much --- more, not that much, but he is a REALLY good guy!
Gunjari, the question "is it possible for a werewolf to imprint on a vampire" was asked on Meyer's site, and she replied "I don't want to say, it will give too much away." Hmm...if the answer was no, she would say that, right? And why would it give too much away?Miranda...I will call Jacob a MUTT as much as I like!! I hate his guts with all my heart and desperately hope he will die in Breaking Dawn.

I totally told her we couldn't be friends anymore... not really, but seriously! As many times as I argued, all she said was that Edward was creepy and Jake was the best. What should I say to convince her? What's with all these Team Jacob people, anyway? If there's one thing I know for sure, I know he hasn't got a chance. Yeah, Bella loves him too, and the time they had together was special and all that... but come on. Nothing can really get in the way of Bella and Edward - we've known that since New Moon. And what has the Mutt got that Edward hasn't?
