I wanted everyone to know: Select Barnes and Noble bookstores will be hosting a Midnight Prom the evening of August 1st - that's right, they will be selling the book when the clock strikes midnight!

At my local store I will be volunteering as Alice, and if we find an Edward in time we're going to have all the girls take the classic "prom picture" with him.

I haven't heard anything about that, so I don't know... I don't *think* so, but why don't you go ahead and ask your local store yourself? I think they had something going on for the Harry Potter books... but that doesn't mean anything.

Is there a fair distance between you and Barnes and Noble, or do you just have company loyalty? :p

lol. actually, there seems to be no b&n in my tiny little town. there is also no costco (shudder!).

PSH I have been going to my B+N parties for every single HP release and I DISAGREE. I mean, my local B+N just kicks major ass anyway, so maybe your store just sucks. Entirely possible.

okay all i asked was if there was going to be a freakin borders midnight release party. i didn't mean for *anyone* to go into detail about it. especially crap about company loyalty. judging by that comment, it seems like you are very loyal to barnes and nobles. if my comment about asking about a borders party offended you, i wish you would've just told me instead of going through this mini online *disagreement*.

Okay so I started to look for songs to be playing during our little "prom". I knew that the music choice would be VERY important, and I wanted to get some good songs that captured Edward and Bella pretty well. Here's what I have so far:

When I was musing about which songs from the 50's we should include (the 50's being Edward's favorite decade for music, of course) my boyfriend, who has been beautifully supportive of my addiction, suggested that instead of collecting the originals and making this prom more of a sock-hop, that we try to gather as many covers of the oldies as we can - I know Cake has done a few, and a couple others spring to mind... anyone else have any ideas?

Oh... and since I am supposed to be fair during this party I SUPPOSE I should be trying to find a few songs for the Mutt as well... if you feel up to it, I'd love some suggestions. I can't bring myself to.

Hey ! I was just asking about the release party. So which Barn's and Noble is it? And is there an age limit to go there ?

You'd have to call your local store to see if they're hosting a party - I think most of them are, though. And there's no age limit... my only experience is the Harry Potter midnight parties (which were CRAZY...) but as far as I know there should be no limitations. You line up outside the store (I know for sure at mine there will be some people there many hours before) and based on where you are in this line, as well as whether or not you have pre-ordered a copy of Breaking Dawn, you will get a number (we did ours be wrist bands). After the line is allowed in, everyone is able to do the fun stuff - whatever activities are available are dependent on what your local store decides on, but at the very least you will be able to talk to fans (and a lot of happy booksellers, too!) in costume about the saga and what you think is going to happen.

An easy way to find out what's happening locally (at B+N at least, sorry I don't know much about anywhere else) is to go
here and simply type in your city, state and zip code.

I was planning to buy mine at costco >.<

a prom? that sounds fun (responding to first post :D) i don't think anything but the party is going on at the Barnes and Noble near me.

I'm going as Jane. xD Will smearing mascara under the eyes look similar to the ones the Cullens had? I didn't know there was one near me until my friend said the Fremont barnes and noble had a release party

My B&N is having a prom night thing too, but all we're doing is dressing in prom dresses and then doing fun activities and such. No dancing or anything. And it's not a costume party.
