What does 'Masters of the Grey, Servants of the Green' mean?

Superblinky I'm part way through the book and this phrase has turned up a few times, and I can't get my head around it.

Is it referring to the relationship between the Moths and the Mantids? If so, shouldn't it be 'Masters of the Green, Servants of the Grey?'

David Donachie Yes, it is referring to that relationship, but it is implying that the Grey are the Masters, and the Green are the servants, rather than that "some group are the masters of the green".
