Sweeping Sagas discussion

Anyone heard of this series? It looks like Masterpiece Theatre did a mini-series on it. I found the entire series at a second hand store and thought it was worth a shot.

I've had them on my radar for a couple of years but never got around to it yet.

The tiny town library had the first 10 or so in Large Print. I read them back in high school - 13 or 14. Don't remember a thing about them, though I've seen the first miniseries. They did a second one some years later IIRC for the later books.

I'd like to see the miniseries....but only after I've read them first. I'm weird that way.

Never heard of this series..what are they about? how many in the series?
