Amy was actually one of our first "Debut Author Snapshots" featured in the Goodreads newsletter. Check it out: http://www.goodreads.com/interviews/s...
Hi, everyone. I'm a freelance writer and webzine editor currently living in Denver, CO. I met Amy in college and immediately recognized her as a master storymaker.
Hi all: I'm a Goodreads author and Amy is on my friends list. I look forward to taking part in this discussion when I can, and want to congratulate her on a great year.
Hi, I found Amy's book through goodreads newsletter. My family is from West Virgina, Tennessee and Kentucky. I loved the regional feel of the characters and story and was so sad when the book was finished! I have passed it along to numerous friends who have also loved the book. Looking forward to your next story!
Greetings, folks. I'm a college student in Minnesota who loves reading and writing. But I went to high school in rural Tennessee, living on the Clinch River, and reading books that were representative of my home. Silas House was the writer-in-residence on campus (which was really cool) and my principal, Sylvia Lynch, played a large role in my interest in writing. I decided eventually to move "up north" to attend college.
Hi All Rick Here- I am am originally from NY- now living in FL- I enjoy a wide variety of genres- depending on my mood - happy to be a member of this Great Group!
Hi everyone. I read Bloodroot sometime last year and was completely mesmerized by it. I've had an inexplicable draw to Southern Appalachia (was born in MA and now live in San Francisco, so I'm not sure where it comes from). My research project last semester was on how female writers from the region are protesting mountaintop removal through their writing.
Hi Amy and everyone,I just finished Bloodroot in Dec. so am happy to have some discussions about it. I am a librarian from ND I love southern fiction and just about every genre.
Hi everyone! I read Bloodroot last year and it was definitely one of my favorite books in 2010! I am looking forward to the discussions here!
My name is Gayle. I'm widowed with five adult children and seven grands. I'm on supplemental oxygen most of the time, so I spend most of my time with books.I was so moved by Bloodroot that I looked for a way to contact Amy to send her a fan letter.
I grew up about an hour from The Blue Ridge Parkway so that area of the country is familiar to me and has always intrigued me.
Hello! I read Bloodroot last year after reading it's review in EW. I was not disappointed! It has become one of my favorites and I recommend it often. Really great storytelling! The setting of this novel is so foreign to me, however, it felt like I was there!
Hi everyone-- My name is Kyle, originally from west TN currently living and working in Washington D.C. I read Bloodroot last fall and was totally captivated from the start.....Having grown up in west TN, different terrain, same culture, I really felt a kinship with the author and characters. I can't wait to find out about the process!
Hi all! My name is Heather and I am born, raised and still living in central Illinois. I read Bloodroot last summer for my book club and really enjoyed it! Looking forward to seeing everyone's thoughts and getting a chance to know Amy, the author!
Hi I'm Ann, a fellow author. My novel will be released by Gallery Books in Sept of this year. I'm a huge fan of Bloodroot.
Hi all. My name is Patty, I'm from NY but I moved to Chicago a couple years ago. I read Bloodroot last year and fell in love with it.
Hello everyone, I'm Anastasia. I live in San Francisco, where I work as a college counselor. I love reading modern women's fiction. I really enjoyed Bloodroot. I thought Amy did a fantastic job of giving her characters distinct voices, and I felt the novel imparted a distinct sense of place. Can't wait to learn more!
Hey there, I'm Sarah. I was born in North Carolina and have lived in East Tennessee for all of my life. I read Bloodroot with my high school's book club in 2010 and loved it! It is, by far, one of my most favorite pieces of southern literature.
Hi-Dee! :)I'm Rebekah. My father and his family are fom SouthEast Tenn. My father is a Baptist preacher and military, so we traveled quite a bit around the USA and lived in different areas but my favorite spot was in Middlesboro, Ky. We also spent most summers with my Mamaw and Papaw in Tenn. and was like another home to us. I recently lived overseas for 8 years. I often felt homesick for my family and the mountains so we bought a cabin on the Hiawassee River and went every summer and now try to spend at least three months a year there as we now live in my other home state of Tx. I love exploring the mountains, going to the historical areas, hanging out with quilters, bluegrass pickers, and storytellers. I have strong feelings about Mountain Top Removal and am doing my little bit to try to put a stop to it.
I'm not an author but I am a READER and love nothing better than sitting on a mossy bank, under a tree reading a book set in Appalachia.
