I read Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. It annoyed me verily. I reviewed it too if you wanna check it's page.
I also disliked Linger :(
I think it's one of the few books I actually hate...
But currently I am reading, "I Am Number Four"
Figured I should read it since the movie is coming out soon. It's pretty good so far.

I've tried to read Shiver, but I can't really get into it. I think books you force yourself to read can't be very enjoyable. I Am Number Four sounds pretty good, and the movie looks good, too, but I learned the book is actually a scam by some guy trying to make the next Harry Potter. Maybe I'll check it out still, if it's good. :D I'll have to check out your review when you get done!
I don't think anyone can really create a scam with a book? I mean if it's good people will buy it and if it's not, then it won't sell, you know?
Here's where I read it. http://blurredhistory.blogspot.com/se...And I agree that you can't really make a scam of a book. Maybe scam was the wrong word, but some authors do cash in on trends trying to make money. That doesn't mean their books are bad, though. It happens, though. Maybe we who are writing mermaid books should hold off if we ever do want to get published. Maybe people will think we're trying to do cash in, too.
The bad thing is that the real author of the book doesn't get the credit, the fame and the money. It's practically debut author abuse. Author Maureen Johnson explains it quite well: http://www.maureenjohnsonbooks.com/20...I am going to boycott the book AND the movie.
The person who actually wrote the story should get the credit. It was pretty good and I want to see it in movie form, but now i'm a little hesitant...I mean only $500 and 30-49% of the profits!? That's a terrible deal.
Exactly. I would never sell my story out like that and not get the credit. Heck, I'd self-publish a story faster than I let some corporate bigwig take my idea and get all the credit.
I agree. Stick it to the man!Sorry, it's just corporate sellouts are between maggots and flobberworms on my list of the lowest of the low.

I love the House of Night Books! I agree, they're not for everybody, and Zoey has a tendency to be annoying sometimes, but the books are like my guilty pleasure. I'm addicted to them! (Plus, Awakened mentioned mermaids!)
hmmm...I think that as a general rule of thumb, I don't pick up books with black covers. They are usually about vampires, werewolves, fallen-angels, ect. and they are way to over used. I've read Twilight, Shiver, Raised By Wolves, Hush Hush, Halo and Shadow Hills(which is good!), but now I'm taking a break from paranormals I think...there are just too many of them and after a while, they start to seem the same.
Now I am tempted to read it! I just finished reading
Really enjoyed it, though it was slow in the beggining.

You definitely should, if you don't mind a few sex scenes. But besides that, it was awesome, with a mini-mermaid battle and fighting and laser beams (don't ask... :D). You have to try it out!!!I'm also reading
Duh ... There is some humor and a cute Asian vampire guy. But ... Jane is a half-selkie and she has incredible swimming-stamina in the water, but no tail at all. The German cover cheats!
I've been really wanting to read this one for a while. From the cover design, it sort of reminds me of the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
Garrett wrote: "I've been really wanting to read this one for a while. From the cover design, it sort of reminds me of the Sookie Stackhouse novels."That's the publisher's intent. They are comparing Jane to Sookie. But they have only their paria status in common: Sookie has her telepathy and therefore no boyfriend, Jane has her disappeared mother who walked around naked and the fact that she found her dead boyfriend in the water when she swan around during an ice-cold storm. Now the narrow-minded people of her little tourist town are suspicious.
I'm reading Detectives in Togas with my friend for a school project. We chose it because we have to dress up, and togas are easy to make. REALLY BORING!!!
Yeah....Thats what i thought too...

I started reading that one, but I found it too easy to put down, so I never finished it. I've also been reading Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings, but I haven't finished it yet! :)
um, The Hunger Games, Ingo, Percy Jackson series. Those are all my favorite books, but you've probably already read them all...
Doing some mermaid reviews on my YA blog if anyone wants to visit.Http://Danasyabookpile.blogspot.com/

Omg! Who has read Three Cups of Tea???? Its super good!!
I'm reading
and while it's not about mermaids, this book is about two enemy clans of underwater creatures, kind of like the Creature From The Black Lagoon-type creatures.
Oh my gosh I love the Creature from the Black Lagooon! My older brother had thing for old monster movies so I got to see a lot of that movie and some Godzilla, Dracula, Frankenstein, ect.
Haha, he'd probably like this book, then! All the Buffy books and TV show episodes have some type of creature inspired by the old classic monsters. There's been Dracula, Frankenstein, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and a whole bunch of others.
I just finished reading
and I will be reading
and
next. This is a ADULT (18+) series about Mermaids. I love it. I definitely think its worth checking out.
