Johara Almogbel | 71 comments Tomorrow's the start of a new (gregorian^^_) year and the start of our challenge!

Can't wait to begin, I haven't picked a book up all week to save them for my 52 list, bah.

First on my list is Wizard & Witch, by James Patterson...

What about you guys? Nervous, excited? What's the first book you're going to pick up?

I'm SO excited! I am actually thinking about starting the "Week: 1" thread. It's the thread where we "gather all our reviews and anything that is not a review will be deleted" kind of thread. :P

Anyway, I am starting with A Man's Search for Meaning! :D

message 3: by Ghadah (new)

Ghadah (ghadahkhalid) | 16 comments I've been excited all week! The last book I read was on the 3rd of December, I was saving the books I have for the challenge.
I haven't chosen a book, yet. I'm thinking Who's That Girl by Alexandra Potter or A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer. What do you think, guys? Choose one for me. :D

message 4: by Rania (new)

Rania (raniahcom) Happy new year all :)
and I have the same question as Sara, can we know more??
actually I am reading very long book, and interesting one too " Woman runs with wolves" I like to put it in 2011 list :D

Girls, if you haven't finished more than 50% of it, it definitely does count, since tomorrow it begins anyway.

:D Weeeeee!

message 6: by Rania (new)

Rania (raniahcom) that seems great :)

message 7: by Nouf (new)

Nouf (noufsabaalola) | 16 comments Yaay, I'm so excited. I don't want to sound so lame but honestly, this challenge is the only thing I'm looking for in 2011! I have already picked my first book but I have to finish Bell Jar, first!
SO STOKED!

message 8: by Muneeb (new)

Muneeb (thecrazyjogger) | 1 comments Super excited. Decided what to read the first month for now! :D

message 9: by Najd (new)

Najd M (najdm) | 18 comments i'm too excited i couldnt wait for tomorrow to begin so i began today XD

i'm starting with " الخليفة الزاهد عمر بن عبد العزيز "

my aunts used to study it at school, mom studied it when she was my age
it seems very intersting and old, not to mention that i love aged books!

message 10: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I am so excited as well! I can't decide what I want to read yet, I think that will be my NYE plans, figuring out what books to read the first month :)

Happy New Year everyone! Can't wait to get to know all of you and get great book recommendations!

message 11: by Linah (new)

Linah (liiiinahhh) Yay, I'm reading a long book and I've only got to around 40% of it, I wasn't able to finish it before 2011 so I guess it's going in my 52-book shelf! Besides that, I haven't chosen what to read first :p

message 12: by Mustafa (new)

Mustafa Sheikh (psychotic_dude) | 11 comments Exited here as well... im starting with "Banker To The Poor" which i expect to be highly interesting & inspiring..

Happy 2011!

message 13: by Johara (new)

Johara Almogbel | 71 comments Hah, glad to see everyone's as excited as me!(^^_)

The choices of books are quite interesting, I love how diverse they are...

And Gee, if you want to start with something lighthearted, then go with the Alexander Potter one. I personally loved A Child Called It, but it was heavy stuff, I have to warn you, and you'll be thinking about it for a week at least:D (i did, anyway)

message 25: by Sabah (new)

Sabah (sabahn) In contrary to a writers block , I am currently experiencing a reader's block. I haven't read anything since like December 15 I've been saving up all the books for the challenge , though most of the books on my list I already own , but last night when trying to figure out what to start with I just couldn't chose, and that urge for reading is suddenly gone. Funny , when we have something that we've been yearning for it just becomes not so appealing. I'll maybe start out with the time travelers wife. Wish me luck.

Yasmeen (yassoma) | 123 comments Mod
Subbz, just start with ANY book. It's probably because you've been waiting too long. Just like the person who cannot eat after being hungry for too long. :D

message 28: by Sana (new)

Sana (sano) Hello! =)

I've been reading The Castle by Kafka for a while now, so just going to continue with it as am still not halfway through the book. Hopefully I shouldn't have trouble finishing it by the end of this week.

I LOVE that book, so sad but so good!

message 30: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I am starting with Home: A Memoir of My Early Years by Julie Andrews. I really like her and in light of her husband's recent passing I thought it would be nice to begin with it :)

Kristina,
Please post it on the "Week: 1" thread so everyone can see what you read this week. :D
And the memoir sounds interesting.

message 34: by Yara (new)

Yara | 15 comments My choice is kind of ironic "The Last Lecture" by Rany Pausch.

Hope to inspire me for doing what's important this year and beyond :D
