Well, I like the basic idea of this novel (getting into the scandals about Henry Beecher and the family drama involved), but I don't like how it's jumping around. It's getting confusing with all the constant flashbacks, especially when there was (what seemed to be) a flashback in a flashback. I would have preferred the story just being told from the chronological beginning.
Agreed, it is a bit jarring to be reading along and then jump back to the past. The 'what happened!' piece is really built up.
