Rickie Crandall (sidstia) | 8 comments Why is this book always passed over? Truly my favorite of all his works!

Emily-Jane Orford (ejhomusic) | 7 comments I disagree. I don't think it's one of Spark's best novels. It's O.K.; but the storyline is too cliche, too predictable. I much prefer (the books, not the movies) "The Notebook" (now that is a classic) and "Dear John".

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 22 comments I don't think it was his best work but I definitely think it was a good one.

Emily-Jane Orford (ejhomusic) | 7 comments I agree. It is a good story, well written, just not one of his bests. Too often authors get stuck in a style rutt and start writing formula fiction. I think this is what happened with "The Rescue".

Brianna (briannaa) | 108 comments i liked the rescue but it was not as good as THE LAST SONG

Emily-Jane Orford (ejhomusic) | 7 comments The Last Song was one of his better books. Sparks is a master of the art of sentiment.

Emily-Jane Orford (ejhomusic) | 7 comments I don't think any of the movies does Sparks' books any favours. I was really disappointed with the changed ending in "Dear John". I mean, really, what was wrong with the original ending?

Brianna (briannaa) | 108 comments i think he writes the screen play before he writes the book. at least thts what he did 4 the last song

Emily-Jane Orford (ejhomusic) | 7 comments I didn't realize he wrote the screenplay first. I still think his books are better than the movies. Perhaps he improved on the story line after writing the screenplay.

Christopher Corilla | 9 comments Emily-Jane wrote: "I don't think any of the movies does Sparks' books any favours. I was really disappointed with the changed ending in "Dear John". I mean, really, what was wrong with the original ending?"

yeah, i think was a very profound meaning that ended the book, but in the movie the ending was more of a conclusion...

Christopher Corilla | 9 comments I'm reading the Rescue and it's a page turner, very simple and family oriented and the setting is in a small town. I think the simplicity of this book is one of its charms and the realization the most profound happiness in between. It's interesting to know stories where everyday challenges are depicted with so much element of human characteristics.

I agree with you Emily, reading the book best explains it, but please don't get me wrong i loved the movies but reading the book made me conclude that those films were more of an adaptation to the novel, it still satisfying to learn the stories by the book itself ;D

Peanutsmommy | 5 comments I liked the Rescue to a point. It was the first time I was actually looknig ahead to see what was going to happen. I think it was well written and I felt Taylor's pain and Denise's, but it was just to long. It felt like the same thing was being said over again after being said 3 times already.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 90 comments I thought the book was good
