Yep! I'm also thinking about having some group discussions about topics like "How do wars cause prejudice" or "How can we stop prejudice?" Do you think we should make a folder about that?
Yay, i'm a moderator. And my fellow mods are friends. lol, Thanks Ronyell!
So, what can we do first....
A folder about war and it's definite relation to prejudice is a great idea.

Thanks Tammy!! I'm going to make it right now! And for the book discussions, like you mentioned over at the book suggestions thread, do you think we should start the polls for the books to be read during February right now and should we have a separate folder for children's books and adult books or should we put both children's books and adults in the polls and vote for anyone of the books?
Also, it would be great if we could invite more people to come to this club! I have already invited my friends over, so feel free to invite more people to this club!

Separate the picture books from the adult books? That's a great idea Lolliepop! That way, it would make each book stand out. Do you think it's a good idea to start the book discussions in February even though we only have 8 books in the bookshelf so far?
I agree on two seperate discussions for kids and adults. I can also do the suggested kids book with my son and he can follow those discussions with us...
Maybe we could read a book in which the main theme is racism or prejudice or books by writers across different races, countries and genders which would help everyone understand about other cultures and groups.
Thanks Elementswater! There's actually a discussion board in this group where you can suggest any books about racism and prejudice so we can use it as a monthly read. It's located here:

Hey! So far, we have a tie between Amazing Grace and And Tango Makes Three in the Children's polls to read for March. The poll ends on March 2, but if the tie doesn't break by then, do you think we should read one of the books for March or should we read both books in March?
Cheryl wrote: "I'd say that picture-books are short enough - a tie indicates enough interest - read both!"That way, people have a chance to get both titles or just get one title.
Ronyell wrote: "Thanks Gundula and Cheryl! We'll do that next time we have a tie!"So, which book is going to be read??
Ronyell wrote: "Amazing Grace, because we just got one more vote to break the tie."Thanks, I've requested it from the library.
I was also thinking that by the end of this year, once we read all the monthly books, we could have some kind of Awards ceremony to see which books were the best of the year. What do you think?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Do you think we should have an author Q&A session? It would help bring in new people who also want to discuss about prejudice and racism.
Do you think we should have a little awards ceremony at the end of the year, giving the members a chance to vote for their favorite reads from this club for the year? Let me know what you think!

This sounds great. Let me know how I can help. I will be happy to contribute as well.

Thanks Tammy! Maybe you could come up with the categories that we could use for the awards ceremony! That would be a great help!
I'm sorry for the late reply, Ronyell. I think the Q&A session is great, and I like the awards ceremony idea. I will be happy to help out in any way that I can.
Thanks Danielle! Do you think we should start the Q&A session in June or in July since I posted this too late?
If you start a thread soliciting authors now, then you can start posting the threads for each author in July.
That's a great idea Danielle! Would you like to start the thread or do you want me to start it? I don't mind if you start it!
Sure, I can start it. Basically soliciting authors who want to participate in the Q&A?We'd need to come up with a list of questions for them to answer, so maybe you can send me a PM of what you'd like to include.
My question is how did you want to organize this? Do you want to introduce authors on a weekly basis, more often, or less often? Do you want a standard list of questions? These are all things that we should probably have worked out before we start the Q&A series.
That's a good suggestion Danielle. I'll PM you some questions that we could ask the authors about and we'll work our way from there, so yeah we are basically soliciting authors who want to participate in the Q&A.
I just saw the Author Q&A session folder Danielle and it looks great! Maybe we should invite some authors to come over sign up!
Yes, like do a broadcast message to all the members of the group, or we could just send a messge individually to each author of the group.
hmm..i love the Q&A session idea!!btw, what do u mean by "soliciting author"??i am not really good in english..hmm
