I decided that it wouldn't smart to follow him out, so I stayed in the quiet green room. If only he wouldnt do that when I tried to show any emotion! A frown pulled across my face, and wrinkled my brow. I heard the curtain over the doorway rustle, and looked up. It was Ammond's brother, Lathern. "Hey," He said. "Hey," I replied. "Ammond had a little temper tantrum, huh?" He asked, apologetically. I let my feet return to the ground. "Yes, but it's really nothing new. I just have to be careful around him, is all." A dark look crossed Lathern's green eyes. "Why do you even put up with that?" He asked, not hiding his curiosity at all. "Well..." I began. "When he's not angry, he's gentle, and sweet, and I know that he would do anything for me, and all he wants is my happiness." "Well, you dont seem to happy." "Oh, it was just a little upset. I dont let these things bother me any more." Lathern's mouth turned down at the corners. "Well, you should probobly go get ready for the festivities," He said, and led me out through the curtain.

"No!" I cried. "Please dont. Dont, I wont do it again. I promise." A small tear leaked from the corner of my eye. The wings folded back slowly, and his eyes regained thier almond shape. His ears returned to normal, and I sighed. But he didnt come closer. He stood back, not smiling. I moved lightly towards him, and he backed away.
"Not now, Aline," He muttered. I stopped dead, and looked at him, hurt and confused. He turned and left me alone. I looked down at my feet, hovering just a few centimeters off the ground. A lock of dark curl fell into my face, and I pushed it back behind my ear.
