I'm looking forward to this book too! Might not get around to reading it until later in the month as I have a lot of uni work to do - we'll see!
I decided to join in and buy the book for my kindle. My luck it will end up being free someitime. I am going to start it right now I think.
Cool Kristy. I think it looks interesting I actually need to buy it here I don't have it yet. I don't think it will be free for a while its a newer release.
Well that is good then. I read chapter 1 and already enjoy it. Hopefully, I can finish it within a week and get back to my other books I started.
I sneaked a couple of pages yesterday, looks good so far! But I need to focus on work for a few days so I've not properly started it.
Kristy wrote: "I am emjoying it too, but wish it wasn't 400 pages. It's taking me forever to read."Hmm, that is longer than average for a romance novel. Normally I find that they're around 320 pages?
I just bought & started. Only like 2% in though it's 1am and I need to go to bed... Lol I am turning in 2 a book reading junki.. Lol
I'm up to 20% so far and loving it! I can't believe this is her first novel, she's an excellent writer :)
Okay, I'm halfway through this book and finding it really hard to put down. It is longer than other Christian romances I've read, but I totally adore it! How is everyone else finding it?
It took me a few chapters to really get into it. Some books are like that though. I started the Amish one for Feb or March but never got back to it because it was just blah for me.
I know a lot of us are done or working on this one. How did you ladies like it?
I admit it took me a little bit to get into the story but once I did I really enjoyed it. I have not read a lot of books from the early 1800's so I always enjoy some of the works and customs I learn from this book like lying in for giving birth.
The love story was interesting as well. I will not get in to it quite yet since some are still reading it but it was a little different story line but I loved the way she wrote the mystery into the story!

I just finished this book and loved it, it was totally different from what I expected. The mystery was woven into the story very well, and I felt it allowed the history and context of the period to be linked in without being overbearing. Loved the British hero! Dominick was such an endearing character Although it's funny reading a book where the Brits are the bad guys, it was quite amusing for me. I don't know an awful lot about this period so this was an enjoyable way to learn about it. I think the only thing that bugged me was that I felt that the spiritual aspect was a bit overbearing and sometimes felt a bit awkwardly placed or unnecessary? I appreciate it when a character's spiritual journey is included in the story, but sometimes it felt like it took over from the main story, particularly near the end. I don't know, did anyone else feel like this or just me? I'd probably give this book 9/10.
Yay, so did it pick up for you in the end? I really wish we could give half-stars on GoodReads, the five-star scale can be a bit limiting sometimes if something's better than a 4 but not quite a 5.
I liked the book, it also took me a little bit to get into the book. To me it started out a little slow, but about halfway through. I would give Lady in the mist four and half stars.
I'm glad so many of us enjoyed this month's book :)Crystal, I definitely prefer falling asleep in bed with my Kindle rather than an actual book - at least my Kindle doesn't weigh too much if it falls on my face!
The way I read sometimes I fall asleep oln my Kindle and it does turn pages because I hit them when my head falls on my Kindle. Guess I'm strange lol
This was the 1st book I have read by her. I look forward to reading some more books by Laurie Alice Eakes

By virtue of her profession as a midwife, Tabitha Eckles is the keeper of many secrets: the names of fathers of illegitimate children, the level of love and harmony within many a marriage, and now the identity of a man who may have caused his wife's death. Dominick Cherrett is a man with his own secret to keep: namely, what he, a British nobleman, is doing on American soil working as a bondsman in the home of Mayor Kendall, a Southern gentleman with his eye on a higher office.
By chance one morning before the dawn has broken, Tabitha and Dominick cross paths on a misty beachhead, leading them on a twisted path through kidnappings, death threats, public disgrace, and . . . love? Can Tabitha trust Dominick? What might he be hiding? And can either of them find true love in a world that seems set against them?
With stirring writing that puts readers directly into the story, Lady in the Mist expertly explores themes of identity, misperception, and love's discovery.
Feel free to post your comments about the book and any questions you think would be good for group discussion. I hope to keep this an informal affair so just chat away! Spoilers are perfectly fine but it might be a good idea to type ***SPOILER*** at the start of your post(and maybe wait a week or so before getting into any big plot reveals) to alert any members who haven't finished the book if you're mentioning a major plot point that should be kept secret - especially early on in the month when some of us may not have finished the book yet!
Happy reading!
Looking forward to reading this book with you ladies!
