Sammie Spencer (SammieSpencer) | 38 comments I hope this is the right place to create this topic...if not, please let me know! Another writer friend of mine recommended this group to me and said that there were several self-pubbed writers here that do very well and that I could get tips/info from them.

I am a brand new self-pubbed author, and really could use all the help I can get. I've researched and read everything I can find, but those with experience could help me more, I'm sure.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Also, the book I've published is Amaretto Flame. Thanks again!!!

Woulds&shoulds | 5 comments Hi Sammie,

Have you tried organizing your own blog tour? There are a lot of book bloggers out there that do take self-pubbed books. It's a lot of work though, you have to make a list of bloggers, and contact them individually with a pitch that highlights your book. I've been doing it for a few months now for a publishing company that I work for, and I've done it before for a self-pubbed author with great success.

Really, you've taken the right step by joining this group and reaching out to the community. The more you can get your name out there, the more people will know about your book!

Trisha Wolfe (twolfe) | 53 comments Great idea! Woulds is right, and I was thinking the same thing earlier today, a blog tour would be awesome! Here a list of YA bloggers:

It is a lot of work. Though I think it's def worth it =) I'm a part of a tour right now, and Julie (in this group) organized it. She did an amazing job. I would talk with her about how to get started. And also, I'd offer a giveaway on the tour.

Here's a link the the tour going on right now: http://www.caroloates.com/2011/03/boo...

Sammie Spencer (SammieSpencer) | 38 comments Oooh - thanks Woulds & Trisha - that's a great idea. I don't mind work at all!! I was brainstorming an idea earlier...maybe you guys could give me your opinion.

I'm part of a fan group for a super popular paranormal series and have interacted with other members for a while. I was thinking of doing a giveaway on my blog and offering a prize pack of stuff for that particular series, then posting there about the giveaway.

To enter the giveaway, readers would have to download a copy of my book from Smashwords free, and then leave me a comment...but they could get tons of extra entries by:

a.) Emailing me the answers to some trivia questions about my book.
b.) Posting a review of my book either on their blog or on Amazon.
c.) Following my FB & Twitter.

Etc. What do you guys think? Is that sleazy or a good idea? LOL

Trisha Wolfe (twolfe) | 53 comments Oh that sounds like a fun way to market and get the word out =D I like it! I don't think I've ever seen a giveaway done that way, cool.

Sammie Spencer (SammieSpencer) | 38 comments I'm setting up a blog tour now...if anyone here is a book blogger and would like to participate, please let me know. This is so fun and exciting!! LOL

message 12: by Trisha (new)

Trisha Wolfe (twolfe) | 53 comments I'll be one of the stops! =D I've already reviewed it lol but I can repost on that day, and also post about the giveaway if you're doing one =) Also, check out Jamie at YA Addict. She's got a great following.

Sammie Spencer (SammieSpencer) | 38 comments Awe! Thank you so much, Trisha. I'm going to make it like the 'coven' is going on tour, so I'd like to do some character interviews and maybe some other fun stuff. I'm getting together a few things to give away, too...and will do giveaways of the book. I'm getting some charm bracelets right now that will have charms related to the characters (guitar charms, ice cream, a ferris wheel, a white umbrella, etc.) because I think it would be a neat little giveaway item. Whatcha think?

Oh - and will definitely contact Jamie to see if she's interested. :-)

Trisha Wolfe (twolfe) | 53 comments Oh! That sounds great!! I love that idea, especially the guitar picks! Too cool =D I'd love to do a character interview on my site along w/ the review, and anything else I can do to help =) You go girl, lol, you sound like you got this down.
