Connor Kinkade (connork) This is where we discuss the first part of the reading schedule. Discuss what you think of the book so far and things like that. For all the discussions to appear you might have to click on the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet discussions folder.

Connor Kinkade (connork) I finally finished this part if anyone cares.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't started it thanks to you!

message 4: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) You could start any time. We just have to share the book.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

OK. I have too many groups, to many books, and a really fun video game to play. :(

message 6: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) Heh heh. Me too.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

So, how is it? I won't look at spoilers, just type away and I won't look until I read this section.

message 8: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) So far so good. There isn't much now I can say though.

*sigh* Not very far, though. I was reading it on my Kindle app in my ipod, but I kinda had an incedent today with my ipod being in my pocket with some easter m&m's which eventually melted... coating it... and filling the charging/ihome socket with chocolate and broken candy shell.... so it was all sticky with chocolate and I couldn't charge it or put it on a stereo :( But somehow my dad fixed it by melting the chocolate that was in there and letting it drip out :)

message 12: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) OH NO! That's horrible! X( At least your dad fixed it. :)

But the good thing about this book is that it catches you from the start! I was hooked instantly. Bilbo is such an interesting character, and his laziness and reactions to some situations are hilarious! (STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, STRUCK BY LIGHTNING...)

message 14: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) The beginning makes me laugh still. It's so jolly and Bilbo gets mad and fatigued by the unexpected surprise of something he just doesn't want to do.

I like how the dwarves all want different foods so they're all being so rude by making him get it all for him! And then the part where they randomly break out in song... *laughs uncontrollably*

message 16: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) I also like how they just keep coming in! LOL! two dwarves come in then two more and etc. and still no Gandalf! They just march in without a care in the world!

I just like how Gandalf randomly asks him to come on an adventure! That's so FAIRYTALE! And vague... And awesome! I would totally go on an adventure with them!

message 18: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) Me too!

The Lord of the Rings is a LOT darker than this book...
and better written...

I'll read that next! I got this other book from the library, but it STINKS! But apparently it's Stephen King's favorite book... I've read one of his short stories and I thought it was really good, so I had high expectations for this book, but I didn't like it. It's called Down The Rabbit Hole.

message 20: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) OH! I've heard of it!

message 21: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) It stinks? really?

I've only read the first third of it, but the main character is really annoying and you're always a step ahead of her... She's practically clueless while you're screaming at her to figure it out already... sheesh...

message 23: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) Hm... I've read books like that...

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

We're supposed to talk about Hotel on the Corner of bitter and sweet.

But I thought that Connor was the only one who is reading it? Happy Easter, by the way :) (I just got to the part where the trolls tried to eat Bilbo and the dwarves!)

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I started it. Happy Easter. The trolls are the second best part. :D

Sammy (ireneadler) | 320 comments Mod
What's the best part?

message 28: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) You'll see. Actually I like many parts better than the trolls...

"Make two barn owl hoots and one snow owl screech if you can't come back."
Ha!
