Nevermind. For some reason the link in my app took me to a different group than The Pale King group. Weird.
Nice! I just bought this book. Even though I have yet to read Infinite Jest I just couldn't help myself. I think this book might be easier to tackle. We'll see.-Victoria
Victoria,Have you read any of his nonfiction? I found it to be an easy way to familiarize myself with DFW.
Jealous that you're going to experience the book for your first time. Can only do that once!Highly recommend reading this quick "how to" -- the end notes are brilliant and hilarious, and Kottke's tips will help keep everything straight: http://kottke.org/09/07/how-to-read-i...
If you're reading a paper book, use two bookmarks. One for the story and one at the endnotes. Enjoy. Work hard.

I read the Pale king as my intro to DFW, and then a bunch of short stories before IJ, and glad I did, but it only made me want to know how TPK would have been if finished... IJ is my all time favorite book!

My favorite all time book... I could read it over and over...lol... I think that is DFWs jest!

A blog somewhere suggested reading it with a dictionary. If you want to go down that road, I would suggest an iBook if possible, because you can look up words and skip back and forth between footnotes very easily, particularly important with infinite jest. In the evening I tended to read my paper copy.
