Goodness! I need to pop in here more often!THANK YOU, UM! Thank you, everyone! It came as a major surprise — truly, I've only seen this award given to the very elderly or the very dead. I kept knocking on wood all week.
To go up to that podium and turn around and see my colleagues all on their feet and applauding... It was very overwhelming. My older son, who was there with my parents, was making bets with one of my former staff writers (from the Dream Team after which the I-Team is modeled) about when I would start crying. But I didn't even tear up. The closest I got was when I introduced my coworkers/staffers past and present.
So, at 47, I've now achieved a lifetime's worth in journalism. I hope that means I can focus on fiction writing from now on!
Thanks again. And I love the flowers. :-)
You're very welcome! We're so proud of you, not just for what you put into your novels, but for what you do on a daily basis to better the lives of people you've never even met!
You're amazing!!
Muahhhhh!
You're amazing!!
Muahhhhh!
Congrats that is amazing! I've been under a rock lately. with 3 puking children :P sorry I missed this!
So sorry, Erika! That is miserable. I hope your Mother's Day brings you lots of joy. And thank you!
It was a huge surprise and one of the biggest nights of my life.
Thank you, Regina.True story: I'm doing a reading on Tuesday night in Denver, and another author is going to be there. She's actually promoting the event. She went online to get info about me, and then she realized that I was the journalist who'd gotten the Keeper of the Flame Award the same night she picked up an award for freelance photography from SJP. So she was in the audience that night and didn't connect me the journalist with me the author till she saw my photo. So I'll be seeing her Tuesday night. Small world, huh?
10 days! 169 reviews on Goodreads and 4.63 stars! How cool is that?!?! That must be a record here on Goodreads! Way to go Pamela!!
Thank you, Kim! That is really amazing, and I'm so grateful to all of you for jumping right in to Zach and Natalie's story. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see you all enjoying a story that I worked so hard on. :-)You all ROCK!
Pamela, I cannot wait to hear how this book is going for you. It is looking über popular and doing well! So the big question is WHO will be the Hero/heroine of the next I-Team book??. I'm guessing the obvious won't be the obvious. Hmmm mm
Hi, Karlyn P. Well, the numbers on this book (rankings) were ALMOST enough to get me onto the USA Today and NYT bestseller lists, but not quite. So that was both exciting and frustrating. Barnes & Noble released the book three weeks early, so none of those sales counted. That happens a lot.
I can't remember a book release that has been as exciting or busy as this one, so I know I have more readers and that more people are excited for the stories. All I've ever wanted to do is to write books, so to know there are people actually waiting for them is just so amazing.
How the book does ultimately in the long term, I can't say, but I'm very confident that it will be the best I-Team book yet from my publisher's point of view.
As for who the hero/heroine are for the next book, I'm not sure yet. I'm weighing some possibilities: Joaquin (I'm iffy about this), Holly (saving her for last) and whoever replaces Natalie.
And thank you!
D'oh, UM! You sneaked in behind me. :-)Eventually, the Muse will have to let me know who's next.
In the meantime, Connor....
