Hi,

Welcome to The Ultimate ABC 123 Challenge group!

Please take the time to introduce yourself and tell us a little something about you =D

message 2: by Barbara ★ (last edited Apr 19, 2011 03:52AM) (new)

Barbara ★ These challenges are wonderful. What a wonderful idea for a group! I can't wait to start.

I tend to ignore all the chitchat and games that other groups channel. So a group dedicated to challenges is way cool.

Barbara ★ Oh I guess I should introduce myself. duh.

I'm a voracious reader, reading about one book a day and 2 each on Saturday and Sunday. I read mostly mystery, paranormal and romance but have a varied selection of books on my TBR. I also have many many shelves with over 6,700 books listed.

I have a 3 hour round trip commute so I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I am much more lax on what I will listen too as opposed to read. When trapped in a car, I'm more willing to put up with a yucky book because the radio is the alternative. UGH. I'm sure some of the books on my list will elicit a "huh"? but keep in mind that I probably listened to it and didn't have to suffer reading it. Though I will admit that I absolutely gave up on Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell as even the audiobook couldn't keep me listening. More boring than you could imagine.

Anyway, thanks for the invite Starzee!

Hi!!

Thanks for joining =D

Haha I know what you mean, I've resorted to keeping a notebook as well with all the challenges I partake in. I hope you enjoy the challenges, and if you can think of some other awesome ones feel free to add them!

Hey Barbara

Thanks for joining! Hope you enjoy all of the challenges available =D

O_o Wow you read a LOT of books! Wish I could read that many so quickly. Hmmm.. I've never listened to an audio book before. Don't think I'd be able to absorb it like I would if I were to read it myself. But then again, if I had a 3hr commute like you did I'd probably rethink listening to them lol.

Ohhh I forgot to introduce myself O_O

Lol, my name's Starzee, an actual nickname that people call me. I forget how it came about, but people have called my this for about 7 years now =D

I enjoy reading manga <3 I love the art work and the outrageous storylines in some of them.

I'm currently writing a novel - it's a YA werewolf story about a human girl named Jacey Nara whose father is the alpha of the largest werewolf pack in North America. But she has no knowledge of werewolves or even who her father is. He's been keeping an eye on her her entire life without her knowing. Anyway, a coven of vampires decide to take revenge on him and his pack for something that happened a long time ago, and they find out about his daughter and decide "an eye for an eye" will do. Unable to leave his pack to ensure her safety, he sends his second (Sylvian Kade) out to protect her and keep her hidden until it all blows over. So naturally he abducts her because it's the easiest thing for him to do. And so starts the wild adventures of the two who loathe each other from the get go. It's full of humour, action, suspense, and a few werewolf twists I have not yet come across in all the other stories I've read (No sparkling werewolves though, I promise :P).

I actually think it's comming along quite nicely (not to toot my own horn lol).

So yep, that's me =D

message 25: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I have tons of TBR books in my too-small apartment, and I still keep going to the library. I like to see what other GR members are reading, too, and chat a bit about the books we read. So, challenges plus other stuff sounds like a good fit for me... and off I go to explore!

message 26: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 214 comments Mod
Lol, welcome to the group Cheryl!

I also have a ton of books lying around that I should be reading, but I end up getting apile from the library to read instead. Very bad habit of mine!

I'm in the process of writing four different novels! Lol, I'm insane, I know.

Kristin, what is your novel about??

message 32: by Cheyenne (new)

Cheyenne (cheylaraine) | 8 comments 4 novels is a lot! I'm currently writing one.

message 33: by Kristin (last edited May 14, 2011 03:31PM) (new)

Kristin (kristinnb) Here's the pitch to my novel. I don't know. Probably won't go anywhere but it's so fun writing it regardless. =) What are your books about, guys?

An incubus can seduce you while you sleep and impregnate you with its offspring. That's how Liam was created, anyway, though he didn't know it.

Paige Owen was popular, smart, and beautiful, but none of that mattered to her. She only did exactly what she wanted to do; hang out with friends, enjoy time with her family, make good grades, and, most of all, read fantasy novels.

Liam Knight secluded himself from almost everyone. He had a mother who avoided him, and knew nothing about his real father. Most people were mesmerized by his good looks and aloof behavior, but he refused to let them in... Until he met Paige.

When a man, who claims to be his long lost brother, begins stalking Paige and, somehow, invades both of their dreams, Liam begins to learn the truth about who he really is and what evil flows through his blood. He learns why his mother is so afraid of him and begins to understand why she calls him a monster. Does having an Incubus demon for a father make you evil?

What will Liam do to protect himself from being controlled by his father, and how did Paige get in the middle of a bunch of manipulators who can force you to do their will?

message 34: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Kristin, you almost make me wish I was a fan of paranormal - that does sound cool! Especially the bit about "Does having an Incubus demon for a father make you evil?" and how the mother tried to cope.

message 35: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 214 comments Mod
Seem to be well thought out! Love it, I would totally read something like that!

Urm, well, I'm writing four novels at the moment, thought I have over a dozen different attempts on my laptop lol.

One is a teen romance that is actually just a play around - it's on my GR profile page. It's about a girl named Noah Duke and a boy named Tyson who just don't see eye to eye on aything.

Another is going to be a series. It's about a brewing war between the angels and mankind. The angels aren't what they seem, they wrote the bible - God doesn't exist. And Heaven isn't the paradise people are led to believe, it's a white barren wasteland where people wander aimlessly without any of their memories in life.
Lucifer is the devil, but he is actually the good guy trying to stop people from being stuck in Heaven. He created sin (just the tiny ones like lieing etc. Not murder and the more sinister stuff, that evolved all on it's own) in an attempt to lure people to Hell, which is actually a paradise.
Lucifer has a prophecy that the Angels are going to wage war on humans, werewolves, vampires, witches/warlocks and elementals alike because sinners have become more in number. They wish to drive ear into people and make them their loyal subjects.
He has 7 children (after he has the prophecy).
Syn (17), Cable(16), Jinks(15), Harlem(13), Strider(13), Gem (5) and Phoenix(4). They are going to be the leaders for people of the world and bring the races together to battle the angels.
Syn is full angel - her mother was an angel.
Cable is half elemental (air)
Jinks is half human
Harlem and Strider (twins) are half werewolf
Gem is half vampire
Phoenix is half elemental (fire)
With Lucifer as their father, their powers are greater than any other of their kind. He had a son born to a witch, Raven (20), but thinks the son died as a baby when angels found out his intetntions and raided the congregation of witches.
So the story is about how the 7 children find each other in the world, and try to prepare for the upcoming war. There are 7 weapons - the only kind of weapons that can destroy Prime angels that need to be found. Werewolves and vamps are at war with each other, so they have to try and stop that, meanwhile the angels have finally got wind of the 7 children and hunt them mercilessly. So they have to stay one step ahead of them as well.

I know it's jumbled lol - i SUCK at explaining things, but yeah, that's the basics of it =D

My third is a werewolf story, about the alpha's daughter and a lone wolf.

And the fourth is another looooong story about a set of half breed triplets.

Thanks Kristin! I'm in the process of hashing out the little kinks I've come across, but ina few weeks I should be starting to write it!

message 45: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 214 comments Mod
Pfft! No, I honestly think it's embarassing and just makes New Zealanders look like they have no creativity and are incapable of coming up with something of their own that is unique. Also a waste of money we don't have. What are your thoughts?

I don't look Human, you look Timelord ♥ I have a degree in cheese making! ♥ (idontlookhumanyoulooktimelord) | 7 comments I agree with you COMPLETELY!!!
It could actually be quite a good idea if they just called it Wellington...

message 47: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 214 comments Mod
Haha! I don't think it will matter what they put up. They'll spend money we don't have making the sign, and then they'll be forever spending more money we don't have cleaning up after the many vandals that deface it. Sigh, it's a never ending cycle.

Its a bit like the argument after the canoe idea thingy for the rugby world cup.

message 49: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 214 comments Mod
Yep, that it is. It would be great if they were arguing about something we are in desperate need of rather than some trivial material object that's only purpose is to make the country look good to others. I fail to see how any of it helps New Zealanders.
LOL oops, I'm getting carried away. I have seriously strong opinions. Sorry for my rant!
Were you badly affected by the recent earthquakes?
