I picked this up yesterday on my lunch and was able to sneak in about 50 pages before bed last night. It is okay so far but the verdict is still out on if I will love this as much as the original series.
Just got my copy today. Can't wait to start it. Does anyone else think the girl on the cover looks a lot like Jennifer Love Hewitt?
Sydney was not a character I liked in VA, so that's already one strike against the book, but I know that Mead has a way of taking a story and making it incredible, so I'm sure that I'll end up loving the series. Her first book to every series is a lot of world building, so I'm guessing it will be a 3 to 4 star read at most, but the rest of the series will probably be 5 star if I had to wager.
I forgot to comment that I had read this. It was enjoyable. Yes, Sydney is not Rose. She takes some time to get used to. But if you go into the book not expecting it to be another VA, you're going to like it a lot more. Sydney is going to use her intelligence to help the group, which is a nice and different spin on the normal types of characters.
Adrian was great as usual, and Eddie was the star for me. There's a new character named Trey who is interesting as well.
I kind of figured out what was going on b4 i got done with it but i wasn't expecting it the way it ended.
dimitri is ok but ive always had a sift spot for Adrian. By the end of VA i disliked rose with a passiin.Loved this book though.
The first few chapters are slow, but it picks up after Adrian and Eddie become more a part of the story. Hang in there!
I am trying. I might get the audio and then I will listen as I clean or something. Then I have no choice but to listen. Then when I get going maybe it will be easier to read it.
it took me a while to get into it to but what kept me going is knowing that her first books usually go a little slow at the begining but the series and the endings are always really good. :)
Yep. Every single one of her "first in a series" books is a bit heavier on the world building and you have to warm up to them, but's always worth sticking it out because her series are incredible.
I soo am looking forward to this book!!! I wish the wait list at the library was shorter, hope I get it in time for this month.
There is like no action in this book. Also the whole thing was easy to figure out right away. At least I think it is, I am not far enough to know. It is ok though. Adrian has saved it for me so far.
My library hasn't gotten it yet. I'm getting a little frustrated. I feel like they haven't bought a book in months. Although, maybe they haven't... Storms destroyed one of the buildings and they've had to pay to fix it, but you think insurance would have covered that.
I finished it. I thought it was ok, but not great. I would have enjoyed it more if there was some more action or suspense in it. I do like Sydney more than I did in the VA books so that is good.
I finished this one on the weekend. I thought it was a pretty good read. A solid four star rating for me. The ending was such a teaser though!
I thought the ending was blah. I must be the minority but (view spoiler)Also, I was right on what I thought. I knew what was going on very early in the book.
Carrie I agree with you on not being a huge demetri fan and with it being predictable but I think alot of what we know comes from being In roses head Sydney is clueless and now were in her head . She is not all that used to their world.
I love rose, but hated that she would run off and leave lissa. I know rose had a choice, and was slightly disappointed.
I think I knew "who did it" before I was 1/4 of the way in. I'm still not done yet, so we'll see, but i can see where this is going.
Does Mead have a formula? Kid is on to something, but the adults don't believe them, or even grace their opinions with 2 seconds worth of thought? My parents might not have always believed me (although, oddly the thought I was lying when I was being honest), but they they allowed me to present my facts and thought it over before blowing me off. What kind of childhood did she have?

I agree with a bunch of you, I thought this one was not as good as her others. You could totally tell what was going on and what would happen. Will I keep reading it, yes, but won't be waiting anxiously waiting.
I finished the latest book last week and I thought it was by far the strongest in the series so far! The ending was great and oh so frustrating.
Would you recommend waiting for book 5 to come out before reading it? Or was it something other than the ending that was frustrating?
Heather wrote: "Would you recommend waiting for book 5 to come out before reading it? Or was it something other than the ending that was frustrating?"If cliffhangers really annoy you, I would wait.

I think I always want to jump into a Richelle Mead book too quickly. I blame Vampire Academy. This series isn't quite the same so I might have waited longer if I wasn't predisposed to the author.
I agree with Darcy.
Yes, I was listening to the audiobook and I didn't realize it was the end. I thought for sure there was another part. But nope, it ended like that. It was good though. I it wasn't as bad as Shadow Kiss, that ending tore me up.
6 Chapters into Silver Shadows. It's so depressing right now lol. Also I'm a little worried because we all know that Mead spends a lot of time recapping everything from every books ever written in this universe. As if we didn't have to read 10 other books before getting to this one. That being said with this book only being a little over 300 pages not much can happen. Maybe it should have been combined with the next one? only time will tell.
Back again I am almost half way done and I just can not believe the way that Adrian and then this Sheridan lady are acting. (view spoiler)Also why is this series called Bloodlines? this just crossed my mind. It's not about Jill. Soooo....?
I just read Silver Shadows. I'm right there with you Chakara, Adrian was a putz for the first part of the book. I was very surprised by the way that Adrian came up with to protect Sydney. I'm not sure if it is genius or it will bring everything down. But the thing that I did like was how stunned everyone was, no one expected that at all!
Yes sometimes I forget that these are Romance books hidden in a fantasy world. I think that mead might have written herself into a bit of a corner with that ending though. I will be looking out to see how she gets out of it.
That being said (view spoiler) so I am not in a hurry for the next one.

It will be interesting what is up with (view spoiler)

I am thinking the same thing and the hard truth is we are probably right. It seemed like with this book I was always one step ahead of Mead.(view spoiler)
